dosse
Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Had a very close call this morning, ended up getting a good looking strutter to within 35 yards but i couldnt shoot due to some thick brush and a ridge top that was keeping me from getting full view. He eventually went back off away with his hens. Good encounter none the less. Im going back after this bird tuesday morning so wish me luck

dosse
Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Got us one this morning guys, blew most of his beard off but still have some strands that hit 8.5 inches. Both spurs 7/8 of an inch and 18.5 pounds. He is the one i had at 35 yards the other day. He was roosted about 150 yards off the field i encountered him in the other day and the hunt was just textbook. He was blowing the woods down and i waited til 6:45 and threw a tree yelp at him and he cut it off. I then waited and did a fly down with my hand on my leg and sent a short yelp series to him which he again answered and i could tell he was on the ground. I waited 5 more minutes and yelped to him one more time. This time when he answered he was 50 yards and coming. He stepped out and slowly strutted in to 16 steps and i let him have it. I aimed a little low cause i have a tendency to shoot high occasionally and thats how i cut the beard off so much. Any way i was very excited to get him and thats the first ever textbook hunt i have had in my 4 year turkey hunting career. Here's to many more textbook hunts and to the strut studs. Good Luck All

dosse
Re: TURKEY TEAM #9 Iabow, our spring so far has been super hot and caused an early greenup, our temps have been tying the highs since records were kept nearly everyday. Been 80-86 for the past two or three weeks here. Does make for some beautiful scenery though
