Re: TURKEY TEAM #13

Well, I didn't draw a permit to hunt Merriams here in my county so I guess it's off to the county to the south of here and chase the Easterns around. The season starts in two weeks and I have several different spots in mind. I have permission to hunt one small property which is overrun with birds but I'll save that for last because there's not much actual hunting to it, just shoot one off their porch. We just got back from a trip to Moab, Utah and along the way we stopped at the Cabelas in Lehi, Utah and I picked up a Turkey Choke to try. It is a Primos Tight Wad with a .660 constriction. If the rain lets up here, I may have to do a little test pattern or two this afternoon. Good luck to everyone.

Good luck on those birds! grin.gif

I heeard some gobblers this morning behind a house I am building. I have permission to hunt the area but have never walked them. I heard a stream but never expected to see this...beautiful! grin.gif My brother is standing at the top of the falls for scale. The falls are about 50'!

It would be a nice place to pose with a picture holding a big gobbler! grin.gif

I made it one day so far and the birds would not cooperate. They flew down and went the other way onto property I can not hunt and try as I might they just would not come my way. The gobblers were pretty vocal, but just would not come my way. Maybe my next day off which is Tuesday the 11th, I can have at'em again.

No luck here as of yet. Most of the birds are sticking to the private properties where the owners will not let anyone hunt. The few huntable birds just do not want to cooperate and part of that is the weather. It has been rainy and very windy every day. Should be hunting ducks in this weather. Wednesday and Thursday I'll have at'em again and I would settle for a little bit less wind. Good luck every body!

Unfortunately, I got skunked again this year. My brother got his first turkey, so the season was good.

It's unreal how there can be 30+ turkeys in a field everyday before the season and then just disappear. I know my brother got to hunt the opening morning and saw a couple gobblers. Other than that, I don't they either of us heard a single gobble or even seen one. It gets frustrating, but I had fun.
