Birds weren't to vocal today...heard 3 at day break on the neighbors property, then 1 shot and they shut up till 930, when 2 started up again over there and I called and they answered everytime and were closing the distance...only problem is they have to cross a road and a car came by and they went the opposite direction....then at 11 they started again and I had going crazy to every call... but would not cross that road...try next week again...Steve

thanks... I will be trying again this Friday, since I took the day off too hunt with dad on his birthday...but now he is done he is gonna work...I will have the property to myself...Hopefully the hunter that snuck onto our property and shot at my dads turkey 1st and towards my dad!!! and with a little investigating, I found out who this "hunter" was and told my dad...it turns out to be an old friend that no longer talks to my dad because of the property we hunt, use to be land he hunted before it changed owners... So how is everyone else making out?

congrats Marc...sounds like a nice bird...my season isn't good...birds gobble really good on roost, then shut-up...can't get anything to open up later...don't now what to do....any suggestions?
Snake, Iam having the same problem here. The birds gobble on the roost but after fly down nothing. What I did saturday is get as close to the roost as you can and try to get between the hens and your toms. If that will not work call to the hens. When the hen comes looking for a challenge the tom will be sure to come also. The toms I was calling to Saturday flew down and went the other way I have no idea where the 4 long beards flew down from they never gobbled once untill I shot then it was a shock gobble! I can't even get the birds to shock gobble with my long boxes this year and you might just as well forget about the crow call. Good Luck! just remember when you don't have any luck don't be afraid to change things up a bit. What would you have to lose?

Marc
