Re: TURKEY TEAM #23

I'm still here everyone.......

Just nothing to say, I absolutely have not scouted a thing.....

I know right where they were last year....... Hopefully they're close to that, and I can get close enough this time.....

Still waiting to see if I drew a tag for the reserved hunt at Glendale too...

Re: TURKEY TEAM #23

Well ya'll. Hunted hard this past weekend with a friend. Sunday morning it was 20 degrees and only warmed up to about 45. Had 3 or 4 different birds spark up and gobble hard a couple of time but would then shut up or walk away. I believe that this weather has slowed the breeding a bit and there are still more hens around during the day. Shotguns come out tomorrow so hopefully this weekend will produce.

Good luck to everybody

I got a great taste today.

The day started off really bad. Dad wanted to go to a new place he had got. Property looked good but we didnt hear anything but geese, so we made the 45 min drive back home and went to the spot where dad knew there were birds. We got there at about 9:45 and my brother got his bird at 10:20. If you guys dont have a "Pretty Boy decoy or a B-mobile" I suggest you get one. Two toms came in ready to fight and walked 10 yds from my brother while he was raising his gun.

The bird weighed 18 lbs, had 19 mm spurs, and a 10.5 inch beard. I plan on scoring major points for the team Wednesday.

The only pictures I have are on my phone and I have no clue how to upload them onto the computer. Sorry

Well ya'll it has been a busy season for me which is why I havent posted in a long time. Havent shot a bird yet but have had a couple good hunts. I believe that the hens are just now getting bred and will be leaving a little more often so mid morning might start heating up. After I get off work here I am going to go out for a few hours then try to put some birds to sleep for tomorrow. Good luck to everyone.

Well its been pretty much the same for me too....

The hens are just now getting away from the gobblers but i still cant manage to get one in close enuff.Ive already missed two, which is very dissapointing, but hopefully 2moro will be a better day, Im going to a real good spot Sunday morn with a friend and i think we are gunna film the hunt so maybe the camera will be our good luck charm! lol.

This morning i had a big bird about 65 away but i wasnt gunna chance a bad shot and a wounded bird so i backed off and called more but he just stayed hung up....

Any suggestions on how i can make the right move on this bird in the future??? Should i just go after him or be more patient....

Post back soon, Good Luck Guys

if you get in that situation again, stop calling. Make that tom come looking for the hen, if he is interested enough he will come in. If you keep calling he thinks the hen is looking for him so he will just stop and strut in the same area everytime you call.

I hope this helps.

I havent had a chance to go out yet, but hopefully I will strike gold in the morning.

Alright team... it has gotten personal with the turkeys!!! Me and a buddy have gotten on the same bird twice and he has done the exact same thing both mornings. He will gobble hard on roost... fly down and gobble awhile then shut up... we moved a little close and then he would light up again and gobble hard for awhile then shut up. Yesterday he came to about 80yds and was gobbling by someones house and I think somebody walked out of the house because he shut up then gobbled again about 200yds away. There are 4 or 5 birds in the area and as far as we can tell we have been about the only ones hunting them. Every time we have been there all the birds will get real hot for a bit then shut up and we have no idea where they went... then they will spark back up again out of the blue. We both believe the first bird I mentioned is the dominate bird of the area because when he starts responding good the others toms shut up. I'm gonna try to set up on him a little closer off the roost this week so hopefully a success will follow this.

Good luck to ya'll

Jason
