dlriggins
Re: TURKEY TEAM #27 Unfortunately I am about an hour away from my turkey grounds so I cant scout as much as i like and arent but a few turkeys in shelby county as it was the last county to my knowledge to get reintroduced so scouting local birds is not an option

Nut
Re: TURKEY TEAM #27 Glad to see ya dlriggins I had a pretty good day for seeing turkeys since it was raining here. In all I saw about 30 in various locations within 2 miles of each other. Maybe a few will make their way to home here. Problem with that is I hunt elsewhere for turkeys

Nut
Re: TURKEY TEAM #27 Getting the equipment ready today. 20 days til the youth season and 22 days til I get to carry. It is pretty cool that I have some gobblers doing their stuff about 150 yards away from the house.

drkillemquick
Well my season hasn't even opened yet and I am already struggling. My father phoned me today to tell me that the property owner that we use only for turkey hunting is talking like he won't let us hunt his property this year. While we have two other properties for turkey and one new one for this year(hopefully), this is by far our best one. This is where I shot my first, as well as my last turkey from. I quess he has been recieving alot of pressure from some of his neighbours about allowing us to hunt in there. It is very frustrating to find this out now, as just a few weeks ago it was a go!!! Dad is going back up to talk to him so, I am hoping we can at least use it for this year!
drkillemquick
Well we found out some more info, turns out it's not neighbours but his insurance company urging him to not allow hunting on his property in case he is liable! So we have showed him that both Dad and myself carry 3 Million in liability insurance for hunting so hopefully we will get to hunt there. This is so frustrating!!!!!!!!! dlriggins
good luck man I have been down that road and I lost a good hunting spot That is why I am stuck to hunting public land birds this year hopefully I will have some more private land for next season
Bow Hunter Derek
Well our youth season opens this weekend. I can't wait. I'm taking my 7 year old daughter out for what will hopefully be her first bird. I'm pumped about it. My season opens one week from today. I'll be out there with bow in hand. It's getting closer guys. Good luck to everyone!

drkillemquick
Well it's official we are no longer allowed to hunt turkeys on our best piece of land. Scouted this morning on our go to site, saw 7 turkeys , 2 being Gobblers. Didn't find them until 7:15 am and by this time they were about 50 to 100 yards from our property, going in tonight to see if we can fiqure out if they are roosting on our property or not. Bow Hunter Derek
We got skunked in the youth season. Didn't have time to hunt a lot due to all the work I've got going on right now. But we had fun. My season opens tomorrow. They are calling for rain the next couple days. Not sure if I'll hunt the first couple days or not. I've been seeing a lot of strutters in the area though. I'll make it out at some point the next few days.
drkillemquick
That's too bad, hopefully the weather co-operates with you and you can get out. Found a good spot(hopefuly) and I am all set up ready for tomorrow morning for our opener. Will probably hunt most of the next 4 days! dlriggins
good luck I didnt get anything yesterday couldnt get a response in the rain Its too bad your girl didnt score Derek but you still have the rest of the season
Nut
So far the score for us has been Turkeys 4 My Hunters 0:eek: Only 1 shot has been taken and that turkey got up and ran away:confused: Personally it has been great for me. Calling in 4 gobblers within range of the boys has been awesome. The 1 time I might have shot was on the one that my boy shot and it ran away. It just needed to come up the field 3 feet and I would have shot but he did it first and rightly so. The one day I hunted alone I hunted the silent gobbler on our place. I ended up jumping him up and away at 20 yards. Scared the dickens out of me:D Taking the youngest out tomorrow again.
drkillemquick
Well after the first 4 days of hunting I have nothing to show for it, only had one jake come out on second day, and a handfull of hens over the four days. Had the jake presented a shot I probably would have taken him, just couldn't get him to come in. I'll be trying to get out nights this week after work. Bow Hunter Derek
I didn't shoot one. Could have shot a jake, but I passed. I did call in a nice long beard for my buddy. He's gone 8 years without a bird, so my goal was to get one for him. Worked out yesterday just before noon. I'll start focusing on my bird in a couple days. dlriggins
spent 5 days and still no bird had 3 within 100 yards(guessing) couldnt see em but the firs gobble bout made me have to change the BVDs if you know what I mean it was so close but couldnt get him into the shooting lane....I guess he didnt think I sounded sexy enough did shoot a coyote on an afternoon hunt though smoked the neusence right in the face he wont be getting a turkey dinner any time soon LOL
Bow Hunter Derek
Nice job on the yote. My hot spots are as cold as ice right now. Heading out tomorrow with a buddy to his hot spot where I called in a bird for him last Sunday. Hopefully the place is still full of birds.
