3seasons
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 Same here B C.. I went out this afternoon but couldn't strike anything up. Heard from 4 others who didn't hear a bird or any shots this morning. I think the weather might have messed with them. Just got through talking with a friend of mine at work, He got a field bird that he's been watching for about 2 weeks. Only one I've heard of so far. Maybe it will pick up this weekend. 3seasons
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 Well I came close but got messed up by some other hunters on public land Sat. morn. My dad called up 5 Friday morning on public land, he was able to get one. We went back after them Saturday morning, we could hear the bird in the distance so we didn’t go to him right off. About 8 we decided to walk over to where we heard the bird, close to private land. It was about a mile walk, when we got there he gobbled so we set up about 50 yds in the woods. We had him and one other gobbler strutting about 80 yds. away. He quadruple gobbled (first for me) He was ready until we heard the other hunters. When we heard them we decided to back out because we figured they had been on him since daylight. We sat there watching and listening to the calling demonstration (no lie he yelped non stop for 2min. straight) needless to say the birds went the other way. We wound up running into the guys a little while later. They said they bumped the birds after trying to move in closer on them. Im going to try and go some more this week Sorry I didn’t score on the first weekend. Maybe next weekend.

3seasons
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 Well I don’t know what’s wrong with me this year but if we could get points for getting close to closing the deal we would be in first. Went this morning after work around 9 and when I stepped out of the truck I could hear him, only problem was he was about 200yds away, so I know he could hear my truck. I eased up within about 100yds of him and set up on a road that spits and goes on each side of a big hardwood hollow. He was on the right side where the road goes up onto a gravel noel. He had a crow on top of him that was giving him fits, I got set up and made two soft yelps and he cut me off. Thought that would do it, but he made it to about 65yds and hung up strutting and drumming for 45 minutes (my nerves were shot). I think he must have had some hens with him and they went up the road the other way. I’m going to try to see if I can do anything with him in the morning, if not I’ll be in there early Friday. I don’t know how big he is but he has a full fan and looked to be large in body size, it was to thick to see his beard. My dad got another one this morning, a nice 3 year old. I told him I don’t think I’m liking this retirement thing to much. Turkey in the morning, golf the rest of the day, and spoiling my little girl the rest of the time. Must be tough. He deserves to take it all in.

3seasons
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 Sorry again guys but some poachers got my bird. Ive got the story in the turkey forum. He was a two year old 10" beard and 3\4" spurs about 17lbs. I'm going to check out some new land later today so maybe things will work out. This season is not going like one would have hoped, but it is still early and so far out of 8 of my hunting buddies that I've talked to, 4 have taken 2 each, 2 others have 1 each, and me and the other one big fat 0. I'm not getting down, yet but today didn't help matters.
