snapper
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 How long is your guy's season in Mississippi? Keep plugging at it...there is no shame in not killing a bird if you gave it your all. I've went several years without!
RackBlaster
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 I took these pics this morning thru the kitchen window , it's torture seeing this being that i can;t hunt for 3 more weeks
snapper
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 Thats COOL Rackblaster...do you put food out for them or do they just feed in your yard? I've seen flocks going through my yard...but never seen them feeding and strutting!
RackBlaster
Re: TURKEY TEAM #29 There is probably some bird seed from the bird feeder hanging from above.
snapper
Any luck yet? I got one more week to wait...but I get to go out tom. for the youth day and do some calling for my buddies son! I still really enjoy that...its like turkey hunting without a gun. Just curious if anyone had an update on their season so far.

snapper
I just had two birds (didn't get a good enough look to see what they were) roosted right above my truck...less than 30 yards from the house....lol. Wife went outside to put some boxes in her car right before dark and one flew out of the tree...I looked out to see the second (which looked like a gobbler, but didn't get a good look) bird fly out. Could have set up right in my front yard in the morning...had them fly down in my yard and been done that quick...lol Good luck PA guys and anyone else going out tom. 3seasons
Hey guys sorry its been a while since I've been on here. Works been busy and also just got back from my NM\TX trip. Ill post the story in the Turkey forum as soon as i get a chance. A friend of mine and me hunted for a total of five days in some of the worst wind and rain you can imagine. We were able to get 5 birds though. I got 3 and he got the other 2. I got 2 Merriam’s and 1 Rio and he got 1 of each. Sorry but my first Merriam was the smallest of my three birds but at least he will score. He had around an 8" beard and 5\8" broken spurs and weighed 14.3lbs. He had a full fan. We doubled our first evening there. My second was better with a 8.5" beard 1" spurs and weighed 20lbs. My Rio was the best of my three with a 10.75" beard and 1 3\16" spurs and weighed 19.2 lbs. My friends Merriam was the same as my first and his Rio measured in at 9.75" beard 1.25" spurs and weighed 21 lbs. It as an awesome trip. Ill get some pics asap and also get him entered in the contest. Good luck to the rest of yall.

snapper
Good deal 3seasons...sorry John, we have to be fair and honest about it...the rules say you must enter your first bird! But we'll take it! I didn't have a good first day...to sum it up without breaking any forum rules...at 6:15am had two ding dongs walk acrossed the field I was set up in...they set up 2 decoy's and proceeded to sit down and hunt directly acrossed the field from me (about 75 yards). The kicker is...they knew I was there, I had decoy's out and when I seen them, I put on my orange hat and stood up. Looking through bino's, I seen that they seen me but they didn't really care. After waiting a few mins. to cool down...I walked out in the field to pluck my decoy's and walk over to these jokers to see if they had permission to be on my grandfathers land. Turned out to be my cousin's husband and one of his buddy's. I know they are allowed to hunt there...so without starting a fight....I just walked right past them not saying a word. I walked within 10 yards of them crashing down through the woods making as much noise as I could. Went to the other side of the farm but with the rain and wind and blood pressure up...didn't see or hear anything. Came home and while outside burning garbage at 2:30pm...I heard 3 birds gobbling behind the house for about an hour...so hopefully tom. morning will pan out a little better on my land! LifeNRA
Well, today was my opener! Last night I went out to see if we could put one to bed. Not a single gobble! But i know birds are in the area. This morning we get there way before day break. I set up for a little blind calling, then the niehbor next door decides it time to cut trees again at 6:30AM! Wound up taking a stroll to see if I could strike up a gobble. Nothing! Oh well, I have till the end of May, but only on the weekends! 3seasons
Hey guys, Its been hard for me to get on the PC lately but I'm trying to check in every so often. Sounds like a lot of people are having rough seasons. My MS season was one of the hardest that I can remember. This was the first time in 14 years that I didn't get a bird. I'm still waiting to get the pics from my NM trip, at least we will be on the board. Good luck to the rest of yall. Ill try to check back a little sooner this time. LifeNRA
The last two weekends, four days of hunting. Havent heard a gobble! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!
snapper
One week left and if nothing changes...it won't look good for me scoring a bird this year! This just might go down as my worst season to date...lol. I've heard a few gobbles this season...but nothing close and only a few answering me. I haven't even called in a jake this year...don't know whats going on. Not giving up yet...a few years back I missed one on the last day, last 30 mins of the season...so its still posible to score a bird yet.
