Strut10
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt [ QUOTE ] question for clarity... The rules state that I must enter my first bird taken. Here in Ms, we're allowed 3 per season, so let's just assume my first of the season is a 2 year old with 3/4" spurs and a 9" beard..... I enter it..... a few days later, I kill the muy grande' sporting 9 beards each of which is at least 7" long, and the 2.5" daggers it calls spurs..... can I enter that one as well ??? [/ QUOTE ] Nope. First beak in the dirt gets entered.
rebelyelp
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt ahhhh the horrors of turkey hunting..... got a solid rain right at daybreak yesterday for about 30 minutes..... shut up everything in the woods..... this morning, we wake up to a 30mph wind coming off the big muddy, went back where the birds were the other morning and hear nothing.... set up and call and nothing, on the way out, i look up in a tree and see two longbeards, still on the roost around 9am...... I guess it just wasn't meant to be on the first two days... maybe i'll get one in the morning
Strut10
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt Was over at the Strut10 Ranch yesterday. Saw 4 good birds crossing the road in front of me. All 4 were hangin' low and swinging. Now.........if I can just get some time to go after them.

rebelyelp
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt an exciting morning yesterday.... heard 10 different birds at the ole home place.....got on one and he locked up about 70 yards on a creek (couldn't get any closer because of where he was, otherwise I would have crossed the creek), got on another one about 9am, but he disappeared... did call up a jake for a youth yesterday afternoon, but he refused to shoot it, he heard about all the longbeards we heard yesterday morning and "wanted a big turkey" so we let it walk

wtnhunt
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt No luck opening morning here. Tried slipping around the long way into my planned spot where I setup a ground blind and ended up still bumping a bird off the roost on my way in this morning in the dark. ksbowhntr77
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt Our regular season opens on Wednesday the 11th, bow only has been open since the 1st but haven't had the time to get the ol' Hoyt out of the case and chase some birds. Saw quite a few BIG!!! birds last night. One I swear was as big around as the steering wheel in my '99 Chevy. Had to be over 25 lbs. Hope I meet him when I have a shotgun in hand. Strut10
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt Not much new here. I've been seeing the same bunch of 4 toms & 6 or so hens with some regularity. Problem is....that seems to be the entire turkey population on the Strut10 Ranch and surrounding area. Pretty hard to imagine there's only 10 turkeys roaming 500 acres give or take. But that all I've seen since last September........this same bunch.
Ambuscher
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt All packed and ready to go. Everything is in it's correct pocket, and all checked out to make sure they still work. (Wife's glad thats over.) Now the long wait of 7 days. This will be the longest week of the year. ksbowhntr77
Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt Today's the day guys. Shotgun opened this mornin'. Going out after work this evening. Rained here for the past 24 hours so the birds ought to be out looking for bugs and the such. Hope to connect with one, maybe even find some mushrooms while I'm at it. Good luck to all!!!!
