Great parenting moment

After church today we went to a mexican resturant for lunch. As we were being seated I caught the tail end of a conversation with a mother and about a 10-12 year old daughter. It went something like this.

............."they don't really give money to poor people honey. They take our money from us then hire a bunch of beurocrats......"what's a beurocrat"? Those are people who don't have real jobs but get paid for figuring out something that everyone else arlready knows. The beurocrats get most of the money and then they give what's left to anyone who might need it or can lie good enough to look like they need it. Then they go on t.v. to tell other people how much money they give away so they can make themselves look good. People like us give the money that we have to people who we know needs it and we don't tell anyone because it's none of their buisness.

Then her husband interupted with."except for the tax man so we don't have to give it twice" (laughter at the table)

Daughter: "But momma they say they really care about people"

Mother: " Those are the same people who think it's a good idea to suck the brains out of babies and take daddy's guns away". Let's go.

The family then got up and left.

They never did say which group was which, but I've got my ideas.

Re: Great parenting moment

Eavesdropping huh?

Sounds familiar alright. Kids can be pretty darned inquisitive. Finding our oldest daughter really seeks to know the most she can, and asks questions about politics. Amazingly, at almost 11 years old, I would venture to say she probably has a better grasp on politics and what is happening in this country than some adults I know.

LOL Steve, really you probably are right in all seriousness.

Thing is she will 11 this Saturday, her teachers have noticed that she is very opinionated and outspoken on topics of interest to her, wonder where she gets that from, lol tongue.gif. That was brought up in the meeting where we discussed meeitng her needs in the gifted program. Kids like this can be the future of hunting.

We just have to work with them.
