My Wife and I rode in the Moab Skinny Tire Festival this weekend. It was a benefit for the LIVESTRONG FOUNDATION, A Foundation started by Lance Armstrong to benefit cancer research.

Saturday it was 14 degrees when the ride started. We completed the 54 mile course and froze our extremities off. Sunday's 44 mile ride gained almost 2000 vertical from Moab up to Dead Horse Point and it was a bit warmer but still brisk.

Dead Horse Point: Overlooking the Green River in Canyonlands National Park with my Wife and our Friend Desiree (these two each packed out an elk quarter for me two years ago).

Re: Moab, Utah

Looks great, I rode in a 35 mile ride to benefit our Central Pennsylvania Youth Ministries, I collected $100 but admitted that I was only riding 10 miles. LOL

I think this year I'll collect the same and only ride 5. LOL Glad you can do it.

Re: Moab, Utah

MOAB, the mecca of mtn biking! cool.gif We rode all around Moab back in '90. SOme of the toughest riding I ever did. Remember one ride thru sand- we turned around after 2 miles and it still took us almost an hour to get back- we probably could have walked faster! Then I did an 18 mile ride back to our campsite at Arches N.P(my buddy dropped me off at the entrance..................longest ride of my life! Didn;lt realize how much the sand ordeal had taken out of me..............hit the wall HARD at about 12 miles. Tooke me an hour to make the last 5 miles. COllapsed in the tent when I fianally made it back.

DId you ride the slickrock trail? That thing is awesome...............you'll never see a more unique trail thatn that! shocked.gif

Rut-Nut,

We didn't ride Slickrock this time around though I wanted to. It is my all time favorite mountain bike trail. We're talking about nailing it next weekend though since it is only an hour and a half away. Those sand traps stink...
