Re: between a rock and a hard spot

Does that make it right for them to poach a deer?

If they were my neighbors, I would call the game warden, have him come to my house and then go with him over to the neighbors! If I had known them for 30 years, I would darn sure be calling the game warden!

No sympathy from me!

Re: between a rock and a hard spot

Ya know, I'd bet you 100 bucks if you drove over to their property in the middle of the night and shot a deer on or beside their land, they'd call the Game warden on you......the more we let poachers get away with this stuff, the more it will go on. It is our responsibility as hunters to help the game authorities do their job.

I understand your dilema, but they are using you, as their good zip-lipped neighbours to poach ...make a stand wink.gif

Wouldn't it be a heck of a note if your "neighbor" called the game warden and said that you had shot the deer!!!

People like that don't deserve to be called hunters or be allowed to have any license!

[/ QUOTE ]

If you go to check on "their" deer they could get mad at you and call you in.

I agree that they probably wouldn't let you get by with the same thing.

Re: between a rock and a hard spot

They will probibly be out there getting that deer tonight or first thing in the morning.

I guess it's up to you now. If the DNR doesn't respond, well at least you know you did your part. If you don't respond ..well ..there goes the neighbourhood. If you had of followed that vehical down the road far enough to someone elses house, that you didn't know...you would have made that call already.

the husband factor is the one i will have a problem with ha ha

[/ QUOTE ]

Sounds like you got a shovel. Don't hide nothing from the husband. That just compounds the problem! but, do what you think is right. You have to live with it.

Re: between a rock and a hard spot

Way to go Karen. Your doing the right thing, even if your non-hunting husband doesn't understand. Like you said before, if it was one of his horses, his tune would change. Well just tell him, that the deer is one of "your' horses and maybe he will understand. frown.gif

At least you have blood to show the DNR folks...that's better than nothing.

Re: between a rock and a hard spot

There is absolutely no excuse for poaching wether it was done by a relative, neighbor a friend. You as a responsible adult have the moral obligation to uphold the law and report any unlawful activity. I personally think you did the right thing and respect how hard the decission was for you to make. I think after a little thought on the hubbys' part he to realizes this was the right thing to do..

Re: between a rock and a hard spot

I really doubt the dnr would be calling from a number that would show up private. Even when our warden here has called from his own cellphone it had the city and the number. You can probably block those private name/number calls from coming in. Here I think you dial *77.

At any rate, your husband should not be mad with you for doing what was clearly right. Hope the dnr catches them and makes an example.
