Newarcher
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women Good points Jeramies, especially about denominations. Man made denominations, not God. Most have arisen from man's unbelief. I think when reflecting on all this, the best person to trust is Jesus himself. So what does Jesus say you have to do to be saved? Well, look at Luke chapter 23:39-43 (the repentant thief). There were two thieves hung on either side of Jesus when they were all crucified. One mocked Jesus....more or less saying, "I think you are full of it, but just in case you aren't get yourself and us off these things". The other thief rebuked him more or less saying leave him alone, we are getting what we deserve but he has done nothing wrong. He then asked Jesus to just think about him and called him Lord which acknowledged who Jesus was. Jesus said verily verily I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise. All that thief did was realize who Jesus was, realized he was a sinner, repented (realized his sins), and then asked Jesus just to think of him when he got to paradise. Jesus took it a step further and saved him. So there you have it folks. This thief had no time to do works, get sprinkled or baptised, or anything else. He believed and accepted. I fear there are going to be a lot of people who go sprinkled as a child or dunked at some point later that are not going to make it. dogdoc
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women Jason--I agree with you. I remember my preacher as a kid said going to church on sunday--singing a few songs--throwing a buck in the offering plate isn't going to get you to heaven. Technically you are correct--all born again Christians are hypocrites, We all sin--even though we know it's wrong--preach against sin--but we (Christians still sin) so i guess that makes us "technically" hypocrites--thank goodness for the Cross! Also btw "ALOT" is two words A LOT
wtnhunt
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women Wow, what you miss in a few hours. Will have to go back and read through some of the replies here when I get more time. Think it is a good idea Steve. Thanks to Scott and Don and all involved. Voted for "The Crossroads" myself. Think that has a nice ring to it for a room discussing religion.

carbonhunter
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Go ahead, break things down some more. You already have a religious forum. Is it that busy? No. That's what we need, more seperation. [/ QUOTE ] dg...... The reason this whole idea came to being is that it appears many folks avoid the Politics & Religion forum due to the politics. There are many regular visitors/posters in the devotional threads in the Online Journal forum that never show up in the P&R forum. I (being one that occasionally frequents the P&R forum) can fully understand why. The discussions in there can get quite pointed and personal at times. And that's not what some folks are about. Actually, the P&R forum seems to be all politics. Even the religious discussions seem to focus on the politics of religion, rather than testimony, divinity or devotions. I really believe we should all give the new room a chance to fly before we start ridiculing the change. It may surprise all of us. [/ QUOTE ] kinda agree, I go to the P&R forum to talk politics not religion. whenever i see religious posts my thoughts go toward the political side
Guest bruteshooter
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women I like the room addition a lot and plan to use it often. I hope the banter ends and the room gets a door soon - one that says "WELCOME Everyone, Come on in"

too_pointer
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women [ QUOTE ] I want to add something, so some of ya'll don't think I am the devil or anything like that. I DO belive in god, and believe that there IS a God. But I DO NOT believe that I need to go to church to believe this. There are things that I do on a daily basis that I feel WILL NOT allow me to go to church, and these are things I don't see myself stopping, mainly because I have a weak "willpower" to these. And that is the problem I see with others, they do one thing during the week, yet they are in church on Sunday, something I just don't understand, nor agree with. But Jeramie, you hit that right on the head. THANKS. [/ QUOTE ] I sure agree with you, thanks Jeramie for putting it so understanding !!! hogwild63
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women [ QUOTE ] Sorry, but you are WAY off base here in you reply to my question. And don't start preaching to me about what I should or shouldn't read. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, didn't mean to "preach". I was trying to say to go to the source and not rely on others to show you what Christianity is about. There is a lot to learn if you go beyond just reading the Bible by going to other sources such as commentaries and such. Those things help me understand what I read and the Bible makes more sense. I'll shut up now

[/ QUOTE ] Gator, let me first say that I'm not preaching at you, because as a Christian it makes my skin crawl when I see another Christian doing so. And No, you don't have to go to Church to believe in God. But don't you think that maybe some of the decisions you are making that you say keep you from going to church could change if you surrounded yourself with a community of fellow believers? I know that this is what helps me through the week. I have close Christian friends that help to keep me accountable, and vise versa. And by the way, There is nothing so bad that we could do that would make God not want you in His Church. We are all sinners, but no sin is unforgivable. christsavedme
Re: Room for Christian Outdoorsmen and women Ok.......after sitting here for the last little bit and reading all the post.....I have a question..... Why are we focusing on creating a new room? Why can't we just look at it as dividing the room that is already here! There will always be a problem with this topic and there will always be those opposed! That is just the way Satan works. But in the end no matter what any of us wants....God's will be done! For He already knows what lies ahead....it is all in His plan and will happen in His time! Simple as that! I just pray for His direction as the mods take us down His path! May God be with each and everyone of you!
