Re: PLease suggest concealed carry gun.

1. Springfield XD

2. Glock

3. Smith or Taurus Ultralite 38 Revolver

Caliber is not important. Buy a 9mm or 40. Factory Ammo a plenty. The hammerless 38 is still one of the finest carry pieces available. Expect to pay 450-650.

+1 for Springfield XD. My daily ccw is a Springfield XD subcompact in 40s&w. It's a great gun! cool.gif

Re: PLease suggest concealed carry gun.

Buy one that fits your hand well, it's just like buying a bow. One that you can and will carry/conceal without a problem. Buy a good quality gun, I hate to say it but don't let cost be a factor (how much is you or your family worth). You want one that will preform if ever need it and not have to worry about it. My carry gun is a glock 26. There are alot of great guns out there. Find one that works well and you can afford to shoot it. Get some training and practice, practice, practice. Some good 9's

Springfield XD compact

Glock 26

Kahr has a really nice CW9 at a good price

Taurus PT 111

alittle bigger

Taurus 24/7 (made by smith&wesson)

glock 19

Good luck

Re: PLease suggest concealed carry gun.

Good luck with this quest...I have a Glock 22 for work but a Glock 23 for off duty...Both have nite sites and both function flawlessly. But, that being said, I think I would opt for a Springfield XD in 45ACP if I weren't using a Glock professionally. Heck, I might even ourchase an XD for off-duty carry down the road. They really do feel nice in the hand.

I carry either a S & W 642 J frame its a .38 with the Crimson Trace laser grip installed under lighter clothes with an inside the pants clip on holster, and if I am wearing a big sweatshirt or a jacket I have a Glock 23 in a Blackhawk holster (the CQB with the Sherpa locking device). I am very happy with both of them, I do like the XD .45 in the subcompact though and am tempted by a smaller .45 like a Kahr or something like it.

I have a S+W 640 in .357 Mag. It has more than enough juice and has a 5 shot cylinder. I carry it for snakes while hiking also. My other carry type gun is a Colt Commander. Classic 1911 frame with a 4.25" barrel. Today, there are dozens of good choices for carry guns. Like you said, go to the shop and check them out and see what you like.

i like the 1911's i am looking for either a commander in the charles daly or armscor or rock island or i may look into the champion models from springfield in the 4" model but they have the same set up as the 5" model grops which is either a 7 or 8 +1 magazine. once i pass my conceal class and get my license for my conceal and carry i am getting the 4" model instead of carrying my 5" model which will be lighter and easier to get too

Ditto here on the 640. Very nice and easily concealable gun. My main carry gun is a Para Ordnance Para CCW. It's an officer sized .45 with an LDA trigger. The best DA trigger I've ever pulled.

Smith and Wesson all u need to know they have the new M&P military and police in a police caliber .40, My mom is works for the Michigan state police in the purchasing department and i've gotten to know alot of the patrole officers and i have shot a couple of there guns and a bunch of them got the new S&W M&P and they all use the .40 because the rounds rarelly travel through an aggressor so u dont have the collateral damadge to other people and property. Cause i mean the goal of a carry weapon is to put down the agressor and keep them at bay, u dont need a gun that will punch throught a wall or travel 5 miles ya know. all u want a carry weapon to do is defend and distroy what u want it to. a 45 or larger calibers can punch through a person and head down the street. Now a .40 can punch throught an agressor to if u hit certin areas but the .40 is a good gun got the good mix of stoping power and restraint . OH and NO the 9mm is not a real good gun...lacks the stopin power

I used to carry the Glock 23 that I mentioned above, but I just got a SigArms Revolution Compact C3, its my new constant companion. Its a smaller framed 1911 so you get a little easier concealability, but it still has the 4 1/4" barrel so you get better shooting than with one of the 3 inch barrel 1911 types. Plus its a Sig (awesome) plus its a .45 (also awesome).

I will leave alone the idea that a .45 is going to blow through people and down the street more than a .40.

Glock is all you need to know for a CCW. They are reasonably priced, quite reasonably accurate, 99% maintainence free, reliable beyond reliable, very lightweight, issued to 2/3 of all U.S. law enforcement agencies as duty weapons and will stand up to more abuse than you can stand to dish out. I have 3 of them and would trust my hide in a firefight to no other carry gun.............even ones that cost considerably more.
