Re: outlaw .50 cal?

There's a funny thing about the stupid "Omygoodness! something that fires a 1/2" 750 grain bullet that's accurate to 1.5 miles! It must be dangerous! There's nothing a civilian could possibly use that for except killing babies and downing airliners and piercing and igniting railcars!" Your average criminal isn't gonna be dropping the $3,000-8,000 on a nice Barrett M82A1 and go crazy. Also, they're quite unweildy for anything but long range sniping, which usually isn't the criminal's first choice. To me, it's nothing more than a crazy politician who doesn't really know anything about them, but since they're big, accurate, and largely a military chambering, they must be evil! Ban it immediately! Politicians annoy me.

Re: outlaw .50 cal?

I believe all the bans on are the fixed cartridge .50 cal and there is specific language to exempt smokepoles.

We can't let them ban any of them. They start with this and before you know it...their after your Grandfathers shotgun too!

The next few years are gonne be VERY trying times for gun owners and shooters in general.

When those democraps pick up speed, there is no telling what the anti gun zealots will cook up.

Join the NRA if you don't belong already.

Re: outlaw .50 cal?

Yep, thank the libs for this crap. nothing good can come from any gun ban, will not stop those who have mal intents and already have those weapons from using them or obtaining them. All a ban does is take away the rights of those who legally own guns who in most cases would never use the gun with any malicious purposes in the first place.

Remember when a ban on .50 cals came up before here a few years back. Think it was California, and it seemed like it started around the time the introduction of the Smith .500 being revealed. The antis will not exempt any guns from this if they can push this crap through. The big thing they seemed to push was that no one needed that much firepower. Need it or not, if someone wants to own the gun and take it to grizzly country, they should have that right. Peck away a little here and there while some gun owners think it does not effet them, it is those who hold that type of view who are setting us all up to lose our rights.

Re: outlaw .50 cal?

guns don't kill people, people kill people. I think they need to focus on the criminals at hand first. Don't know what i'd do if they took my guns away- I'd have to go goose hunting with a bow!!

Got that right!

BTW...Ronnie Barrett of Barrett firearms has developed another caliber for the good state of Kalifornia. Since they can no longer own the .50BMG caliber, Barrett invented another round. The .416 Barrett.(its not a .50, so go stick that law some place). Ms Pelosi wink.gif

It is based on a necked down .50BMG case.

It shoots flatter with better ballistics than the .50

Barrett runs ads in many gun magazines that say

" since the good state of California has chosen to ban the .50BMG form the honest citizens of California, Barrett Firearms will no longer service or sell ANY Barrett Firearms to law enforcement agencies in California"

That is man who stands behind the 2nd amendmant.

We all need to be as determined to maintain and preserve OUR RIGHT to keep and bear arms.

Re: outlaw .50 cal?

The truth about firearms is NEVER told. The media must have a " Lie at all costs" policy when it comes to reporting about firearms. Just turn on the news, there is NEVER a positive portrayal of firearms, at least not here in the North east. So much lib crap is being fed to the public, the public is starting to believe it all.

I love hearing about the .357 magnum. Soo powerful that it can penetrate an engine block.

PUHLEEESE!!! They must teach that in journalism school. If they can't get that much right about such simple facts, how can we trust the media to tell the truth about important issues ...such as Nuclear and environmental hazards?
