I'VE BEEN TOLD A HEN TURKEY ONLY BREEDS ONE TIME, AND ALL THE EGGS LAID AFTER THAT ARE FERTILE. OR ARE THEY LIKE A CHICKEN DOES EACH EGG HAVE TO BE FERTILIZED?

Re: HOW MANY TIMES DOES A HEN BREED?

I've always been told that a hen turkey has to have each egg fertilized. Thus, she is breed prior to laying each egg in her clutch. The hen will typically lay 10 to 12 eggs during a two week period and incubate them for about 28 days.

I could be wrong...that's just what I've always been told. confused.gif

Read somewhere before...Hens need to be bred only one time to fertilize the entire clutch of eggs. One breeding will keep her fertile for x-number of days...If her nest is broken up she will need to re-breed again.Good thing for us they don't know they need to do it only once.
