hoyt19
Has anyone shot either of these bows? I have a 2002 Havoc TEC cam and a 1/2 and want to get a new one. I am a litte worried with how low the brace height is though.
Chrud
Re: Hoyt TURBO TEC or SUPER TEC They are identical, except for the unusual Advance TEC riser on the Turbo. Between the two...go with the SuperTec. I'd shoot some others too. Do you want if for speed? There are other bows that aren't quite that fast (about 315 or so) with longer brace heights. hoyt19
Re: Hoyt TURBO TEC or SUPER TEC I was going to try and shot the Xtec Vtec also, and maybe the Viper at the pro shop, depends on what they have there with me being a lefty might be limited to shooting what they have
Chrud
Re: Hoyt TURBO TEC or SUPER TEC Don't get a Turbo/SuperTec for hunting. I would say the X/VTEC or the ViperTec. You could probably get a great deal on an '04 XTEC. I wouldn't pay too much more for an '05 VTEC which is identical to the '04 XTEC.
hoyt19
Re: Hoyt TURBO TEC or SUPER TEC i guess there isnt anyother knowledge about these bows out there, hope thats not cause everyone is shotting a mathews lol
Chrud
Re: Hoyt TURBO TEC or SUPER TEC The smart ones are. I shoot an XTEC, either an '05 XTEC, '05 Outback or '05 Switchback in the spring. I wouldn't suggest the TurboTec. The riser looks dumb as a brick, if you'd use it for hunting, it would get caught on a lot of brush. Plus, it's only got a 6" brace height I believe. Not very forgiving at all. Tony
Re: Hoyt TURBO TEC or SUPER TEC dont sweat the brace height if your shooting form is good.. plus the Turbotec or Supertec would make a great hunting bow... why wouldnt it ??? just because the design looks a little differant doesnt mean that its going to get caught on everything.. i mean do you wade through chest high thick brush to get to your stands ? heck i would be more worried about if my sight was going to get caught or the pins broken if its that thick.. plus im sure you dont drag your bow through that kind of stuff. if it was that thick then you would get any bow caught on stuff just by the cams.. not the riser.... with the kind of speed that bow offers and if your able to handle it it could be a great bow for out west where the shots are a little longer... plus it would be a huge advantage to have just 1 pin for 30 yds and under ...plus its really quiet and no hand shock.. i shoot Hoyt Protec for Indoor and 3d competition and i also have a Hoyt Razortec for hunting... both of these bows have pretty big brace heights. i just like a bow that i can shoot 3d and Indoor with .. and my Hoyt Protec fills the bill . for hunting my Hoyt Razortec was shooting at 297 fps... and i was shooting Muzzy 3 blade 75s.. arrow weight was 375 grs...what this tells you is that you can shoot a fast bow with fixed blade broadheads and still have them very accurate..... bottom line is shoot one and find out if you like it....thats the real test ..... [/ QUOTE ] You know, I'm only kiddin' about the Turbo. I wouldn't shoot it because of the low brace height. But, with good form, it really won't matter, other than your arrow will be zingin'!
