Guest beagleman
I have a Browning BPS upland special. And I could be wrong I bought the gun used but I beleive its a pre-93 model it takes invector chokes. But after carrying this gun rabbit hunting this season. I have to say that little gun needs to go on a diet. Ive decided to put a sling on it though. But was discouraged after visiting Bass Pro and seeing that a uncle mikes cap and swivel for the BPS sells for 30 bucks, thats the same price as the sling I want. I could pay it but I recently bought a set of swivels for a Revolation 16ga. And have been debating on doing the same with the BPS. Is there any advatage over the cap? either way Im going to have to drill at least one hole. About my other question, recently I obtained my old Revolation 16ga Model 310BKA. I was wanting to figure out who made this gun for Western Auto and found a chart from another site and could not find a 310 BKA couldnt find anything BKA because the gun was in poor shape when I orginaly owned it and has only gotten worse since I got ride of it. I cannot 100% swear it said 310BKA I do know it does say BKA but the 3 could be a 2 or a 8, but favors a 3. According to this chart I found a 310, 310B and 310BK is a Mossberg 500. But this gun is a bolt action, so unless there is something Im unware of I know this to be wrong. Can anyone help me figure out who this gun was orginaly made by? According to this chart I found 3 shotgun manufactors made guns for WA stores, Mossberg, Stevens and Savage. And I know all 3 at one point in time built a bolt action shotgun. terry264
Re: Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anoter The old Revelation 16 ga. is probably the Mossberg 190 possibly the 190K-B version. Various screw-on or C-Lect choke, mfg. 1955-1958. Sounds like that one. Nothing fits from Sav. / Stevens. Some of the descriptions in the book are obviously mistakes though. Guess it's hard to list this many guns and not make a mistake, i.e. Mossberg Mod.390's are listed as 16 ga. with a 3" chamber, imagine that. terry264
Re: Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anoter Beagleman, an afterthought, if that 16 ga. was made between '71 and '76, it could be their model 390 as it's one of the few listed in 16 ga. even though their description of it having a 3" chamber is probably wrong. They list it as 390, 390K-A, 390K-B, and 490A, who knows?

[/ QUOTE ] The sling svivel on the end cap is the only way to go, IMHO. Makes the gun way nicer to carry than a tie or wrap-on sling. I just bought the swivel screw when I did my BPS 10 ga. Took the end cap of, drilled the hole and done. Nothing to it and it'll save you enough money to buy your sling.

Leo
Re: Sling for a Browning BPS.&.Question about anot I agree especially on a BPS the sling cap is the way to go. But watch out for one thing. Quite a few of the swivel caps only have a spring washer holding the swivel stud in the cap. I'm speaking from experience here, these DO NOT last!!! A gunsmith can thread the stud and peen a jam nut on there to fix it. If that's the only kind you can find, I suggest you get that done. Otherwise you run the risk of your shotgun sling letting go suddenly. Trust me that's not a good feeling.
