ohiobuckhunter
Re: POACHERS! the reason i made the comments i did was because around here are crazy i've been shot at threatened and various other things by people that had permission to hunt the same woods i had permission to hunt and yes i am strongly opposed to poaching but how many deer are hit on the road and wasted?????? more than any poacher can take and i would worry that if you got them all stirred up you might have a worse problem than them just being poachers. i try to mind my own business when in the woods because as bke said poachers = theives so who's to say what extreme they will go to if they know you called and if there is no proof to catch or stop them then you might have a worse problem.. yes i agree with most everyone on here i would call the local dnr also if it was a perfect world... but it's not sorry if i offended anyone but maybe the areas you hunt aren't as cut throat as they are around here i was considering quiting my pursuit for whitetails just because of some of the no brained hunters around here. but it's so addicting i can't and wont quit just because of some disrectful hunters
Guest malikai
Re: POACHERS! Well firstly NO I do not have anything to hide. I have had problems with the neighbor in the past; He caught me hunting for rabbits on his land once (I didnt know it wasnt ours!). but that is dealt with, And that is the reason I am hessitant to call the DNR because they could put me as a suspect which I am not, This is the only reason I am hesitant to call, the fact that I have unknowingly poached before, on that land. So I am at a cross here. What I plan to do is call the neighbor and tell him I suspect poachers on his land, and try to work with him in seeing if there are... Do yall think thats a good idea? Cheers, Joe
Guest bruteshooter
Re: POACHERS! [ QUOTE ] What I plan to do is call the neighbor and tell him I suspect poachers on his land, and try to work with him in seeing if there are... Do yall think thats a good idea? Cheers, Joe [/ QUOTE ] Talk with him and advise him of what you think is happening. Also tell him that they may be on your property as well. So you suggest that "we" call the DRN and "we" get together and handle this in mutal agreement of what's best for "us". Now you've made a good neighbor. And if he is not concerned at all, then you do it alone. Just my 2Cents
Guest malikai
Re: POACHERS! yeah but the neighbor; Reinke happens to be a jerk. Dunno how easy it will be to befriend him considering I tresspassed on his land =/. cheers, joe
Guest dedicatedmarine
Re: POACHERS! warden definately, if you didn't do nething wrong, u have nothing to worry about. that's what wardens are for
wtnhunt
Re: POACHERS! Dont know, if the neighbor is a jerk, you are better off just dealing with the warden. Let them handle it, that is what they get paid for.

LETMGROW
Re: POACHERS! By all means contact your neighbor and talk to him. Why would he suspect you if you are calling him? Allowing this to continue will just be asking for more trouble. Wing O Nut had some good points. You might go back and re-read his comments. Then get on the phone! Guest HoppeMan
Re: POACHERS! Call the game warden first. Also, if you have any game cameras set up, you could move one to where it could catch a picture of the guy. Take care, Nathan
Guest bruteshooter
Re: POACHERS! We just got back after meeting up with our local DRN guys. We stumbled across a public site that had a bag or two for fish heads and guts, three large (30 gallon) bags of deer hides, guts and bones, and worst of all, a small young doe. Still limp and warm when we stumbled across her on the ditch along the road side. No entry or exit wounds, no gutting, and nothing but a large rope around her neck. DNR is as p'ed as us and is working this as best they can. But it's gonna be a hard one when they obviously drive thru and dump, then go. Guest Racksnbeards
Re: POACHERS! I didn't read all the post's so this may have already been mentioned, but right now all the coyote hunters are out in my area, so hearing a rifle shot or seeing deer running, isn't uncommon. Of course if it's hounds running or spooking the deer you'll hear them running track. Just a thought, but regardless, I believe you should contact the conservation officer, and also call the landowner. Both of which should appreciate the info. Ravin R10 man
Re: POACHERS! Why do you guys automatically think poachers?? It could be possible that someone is just shooting for the fun of it. Maybe they have permission to be on it, unlike you who already stated you were tresspassing..??? I sort of agree with the gaf officer here...[qouteBy publicity, is I dont want too much attention to my place , I dont want dnr walking around there......]qoute/ what are you afraid of?? kinda what I was thinkin.. Guest CajunHunter_7
buy extra bulets for this one I would call my local game warden tell him and then if he didnt do anything call your sheriffs depafrtment then if they dont do anything its up to you toi get them to stop. Put up some no tresspasing signs so they cant say I didnt know and then when they do tresspass and you catch them hold them and call the sheriff If trhey pull a gun in Louisiana its attempted murder. So Iwould just call the LAw
Mr_Dynamite
place I had permission on 2 years back had a story like that. Owners house was right on the edge of a ravine. One day he heard a chainsaw down on his land. He walked toward it, but it stopped before he got there. He kept on going, and came uppon the head, guts and legs of a deer. Poacher had shot it with a bow, used a chainsaw to cut off the head and legs, gutted it, then packed out the torso on the back of his 4wheeler.
