My back gave out and I had to change careers. I do not miss the cut and bruised knuckles, the exhaust fumes, the trying to squeeze my hand or arm into somewhere it wouldn't fit, the grease under my finger nails (the wife hated that), the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer. To all you mechanics, excuse me, automotive technicians out there, give yourselves a pat on the back, for you surely deserve it. Salute! I have also spent a few years working on heavy equipment, probably my favorite. A guy that has his own shop had been after me for quite awhile before I finally decided to go to work for him. I think it was the best decision I have ever made. I have been there about 6 months & it is the best job I have ever had. It is right in my hometown.I am making good money & have no gas expense. Also get to take off & go to my sons games & don't work any weekends.If I need to take off I can.
