has anyone seen this documentary, we watched it today in juvenile delinquency class, man was it a great documentary, if you havent seen it, it was filmed 78 at a New Jersey state prison, the beggining they interviewed like 15 kids about the juvenile crime acts, and why they do and the kids say there gonna continue doing it cause they wont get caught, some of the kids i just wanted to slap if ida been around then, well after interviewing them they take them to the state prison and put them in a room with a bunch of incarcerated convicts, where the convicts tell them what life is really like in jail and these convicts dont go easy on this kids, they go all out, if anyone watches it, i can tell ya now it is not for child viewing, these prisoners tell it straight up, after the kids come out most of them crying and interviewed again and asked if they will commit another crime most say they wont, couple didnt care, then it follows up on the kids like 20 years down the road and see what they are doing and most are cleaned up, but just like the title the convicts scare these children straight, if ya get the chance rent it sometime if ya havent seen it great film, its just what society need to do to the kids these days

Re: Scared Straight

They have a program somewhat like that in Wisconsin. We also have a program at the prison I work at where some of the inmates go out of the institution and tell there story of why they are in prison and "if they had to do it all over again" . WI spends way too much money trying to rehabilitate the "seasoned" inmates and not near enough money on the kids to help them before it's too late. smirk.gif
