MrWiggely
Re: Need help! Well, I used to use chicken liver all the time, but I had problems fighting off all the turtles before getting to the catfish. After fishing in Oklahoma a couple years ago, an old feller there had me using cut shad. We caught some great blue catfish weighing up to 20 pounds using cut shad. The old fella told me if I want to catch even bigger fish to use live suckers 6-12 inches long under a big bobber. Good luck. Wigs
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Need help! If you're fishing in a lake, one of the best things you can do is chum. Get your hands on 4 or 5 pounds of milo, millett, or chicken scratch, put it in a 5 gallon bucket and add about 3 gallons of water. Let it soak for several days and the grain will sour. Toss out a few cups of the soured grain every 30 minutes or so and you'll draw in catfish from all around.
muggs
Re: Need help! any cut bait fish is money IMO. I've really had good sucess with cut up bluegill too. Funny as this sounds, the bluegill heads seem to work the best.
Gator
Re: Need help! WE use strictly live bait. But cut shad or whole shad depending on the size are hard to beat, along with chicken liver and nightcrawlers

flyrod64
Re: Need help! We do real good on bluegills here. We also go out a few days before we want to fish and pour in about 50lbs of dogfood where we want to fish. That usually brings em in!
