First priority is to pick a clover that will grow on your site. For example, I would suggst you avoid planting ladino on a dry site, or alfalfa on a wet site. Select from what will work on your place.

On a tough site with no ag crops around, they will eat darned near anything you plant. On a prime site in farm country surrounded by 10,000 acres of soybeans and alfalfa, that may not be the case!!

Dogdoc will chime in here sooner or later with the Oklahoma insider's perspective.

There are more types of clover out there than you can keep track of. Granted clover may look like clover BUT there is a substantial difference in texture and protien values.

If you are serious about food plots for the betterment of the deer you might better go with a clover which is designed for deer.

A clover plot of good quality deer clover can draw deer away from farmland clover hands down. The price difference is nothing compared to the result!
