MCH
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Well, I'm headed to Paris for the Zebra Twist Team Shoot. I'm also shooting the benefit course. Hopefully, this evening, they'll draw my scorecard for the South Texas Whitetail Hunt.

Gator
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Looks like I will leave Oklahoma City about lunch time and head that way. I am in no way ready to shoot the team shoot, with distances to 50yds. My nerves are ALREADY gettin to me, just hope they calm down after my first target or two tomorrow. MCH
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Well, the first day is over. Thank God! Day started off well. In the Limbsaver Known Distance shoot, I was 10 up through 6 targets. On the 7th target, I started to draw back when suddenly my release released and my hand smacked into my jaw! The arrow went sailing over the target. I looked down to see my draw loop had come untied at the bottom. Long story short, the officials said that if I could get it fixed quickly, I could reshoot the target. Got it fixed and finished up the remaining targets with 10's and one 8. Still finished at 8 up. After looking around for a while, I made a run by the practice range to make sure my bow was on. It wasn't. Shot a few times and thought it was good enough.........it wasn't. At the team shoot, where we could discuss distance, I proceeded to shoot a 5 and an 8 on the first two targets. Shot high on both. After about three attempts at changing my sights, I finally got it close. Finished the tough course at 3 down. Our team finished out of money. Anyway, Gator made it to the shoot at around 3. We stayed around to see if we could win a whitetail hunt or a bow during the drawings, but we got blanked. Gator has to be on the range by 7:30 in the morning and I have to be there by 10:30. I'm shooting unknown yardage and he's shooting known. Hopefully, we'll both have a good day. Also, it was pretty neat meeting some of the pros. Gillingham, Hopkins, Braden, Caudle and a few more were there. The pro for my team was Phil Long. Great guy.

MCH
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Got home at about 3:30. Not bad except that we left the house at 6 this morning. Both of us shot pretty good. Jason finished 9 down with a 191 and I shot even up at 200. Honestly?? I think I got shorted two points but both official scorers had me down as a 10 so even though I had another shooter who agreed with me, there was nothing I could do. Oh well. We're both pretty happy with our shooting. Rumors floating around both courses had one shooter in each class shooting around 16 up. Talked to several Hunter Class shooters that shot down(mathews pro staff shooter in my group shot 191) and Gator said there were quite a few 180's and below, so we still have a good chance at placing in the top 40. Both could've shot better, but we'll take it anyway. Tomorrow is known distance for me and Jason as well. Not sure what our strategy is gonna be as of now, but we're leaning towards just the 12 ring. Did witness my first ever robin hood of a pin-nock! Too bad it was my arrow that was robin hooded. 26 yard bedded buck. I had placed my arrow right above the lower 12 and the guy behind me put his arrow right inside mine. There was only 1 inch of his arrow sticking out of my X-cutter. MCH
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread One of the longest Hunter class courses I've ever shot today. Average yardage was above 36. Only had 3 shots less than 30. (24, 28.5 & 29 I think). I had the mindset of shooting for the high 12's and giving the 14's a go if they were near even yardage. We didn't have a single even yardage shot. Going for those high 12's was a new experience. I eighted a lot more than I hit, that's for sure. I ended up shooting 15 down. Was sitting at 13 down on the last target, 35 yarder. Decided to go for the gusto and missed the 14 by a hair. Wasn't the only one that struggled today. I only dropped 8 spots to 35th. Oh well, I had a blast at least. I did up winning 3rd in the Limbsaver Known Distance shoot. Not sure how much money I'll win, but they said they'll post it later this week. I'll let Jason tell you how he did.
Gator
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Well, I just got home from a LONG WEEKEND!!!!!!! All I can say is WOW, I am HOOKED!!!!!! First off, let me thank MCH and family for putting up with me over the weekend, and thankfully, no wet willies were given!!! Also, gotta thank Kevin for helping me last night with my shooting. It REALLY helped me today Now, on to todays score. I shot 3 down for a 197. Went for a high 12 on my second target, and hit a 5, THAT cost me. Had I stayed with myt game plan, I would have shot 2 up. Ended up with a 388 for the weekend, so I can't complain. Oh well, I am VERY pleased with my shooting today. I can't WAIT for Paris in '08!!!! Gator
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Addictive is NOT a word I would use to describe this, but I don't know of a BETTER word!!!! I am already looking forward to next year. Gonna do ALOT of stuff different, that's for sure!!! I see a new POSTEN Stabilizer in the works and most likely some GT 3D Shafts, just not sure which ones I will go with
Gator
Re: Paris, TX ASA Pro/Am Update Thread Scores are POSTED, I finished 34th out of 93 shooters, can't complain, well, except them 2 fives REALLY hurt me, had I shot 10's on those, which I feel I REALLY could have, I'd have been in 21st. Oh well, still not bad considering my first ASA Shoot.
