Flags of our Fathers (The Movie)

Has anyone seen this? I have been watching it here and there while my wife has been gone, and finally finished it last night. The ending, to me, has got to be the most depressing ending to a movie I have ever seen. It's sad what happened to Ira Hayes after he came back, guy looks like he could never really adjust to life back home. I need to sit down and watch it all the way through

I was really disappointed with it. I'm a huge WWII history buff, and I was really, really looking forward to seeing it so I rented it the night it came out.

Clint Eastwood has a real skill at taking an interesting subject and then really making boring. Hollywood really kisses his rear too, can't figure that one out. crazy.gif

Some of the fighting was shot well, but I think the movie could have been half as long and it would have helped.

The author of the book (Bradley) is from Antigo, Wisconsin. I remember the night when it "world premiered" in Antigo. It was neat having the premier here, all kinds of fancy lights and what not. Haven't seen it yet, but will probably buy it before too long.
