A food exchange?

Back in December we had a thread going about northern and southern foods. We talked about cheese curds and boiled peanuts and other such things. I was wondering how a "Realtree Regional Flavors Exchange" would go over? We could run it similiar to the Christmas exchange. Everyone puts their name in the hat and we exchange a special local food item with someone else. Set an amount like maybe $20 for food and shipping. I think it would be fun, tasty, and a great way to meet other forum members. Many of us take our local flavors for granted. Around here we have Croghan Boloney, it is only made in one small shop and everyone who tries has to have more. Do you have something special nearby that you would like to share??

So. Would you be interested? Do you have any thoughts or ideas??

I once shipped cheese to Texas without using dry ice.

It doesn't have to be a chilled item, it can be something as simple a bottle of a famous BBQ sauce.

we got a certain type of BBQ chips that can only be bought in this area. Same thing with a type of soft drink, would that work for the exchange? Or does it need to be more of a home-made type deal?

I dont see why not Lil.. It does not have to be home made..

Lil, the chips and rootbeer sound great!

I think we might stay away from homemade item. Here is a link to my post in the Lounge about the exchange LINK Take a minute to read Moon's post and see if you agree with me. She does make a good point about homemade items. However if the group wants to allow homemade items, that is fine with me. Let me know what you think.

lol at Andrea, and stinky. haha

It isn't root beer though. It's actually more of a citrus drink. Very good stuff though. I'll participate then!

I remember one time I was at a restaurant in Kentucky and asked for it, the waitress had no idea what I was talking about.lol.
