We've gottin alot of rain here lately and they have been running alot of water at our local dam so my son and I went over to do some snagging for spoonbil. It's a little early but we figured we might as well give r' a try and boy were we glad we did. I had one within about 10 minutes and had 2 get off. Cole landed one (which was bigger than mine) that took both of us to get him in. Mine wieghed about 25 pounds and Cole's was around 45 pounds. It was worth the 15 minute drive even though we only had about an hour to fish. We had alot of fun and ended up hitting 4 and landing 2 within 45 minutes. Ended up with about 25 punds of meat out of them.

Next time we go I will take the camera and get some pics.

Man I love spring time !!!!!!!!!!!!

No offense guys...but why would you want to snag fish? Doesn't seem to sporting to me? Do you eat the fish?

Snagging is the only way to catch them as they are algea eaters. And they are very good eating. And for the sporting aspect it usually takes about 30 minutes to get a 50 pounder to the bank, if you can get him in without snapping your line.

Re: THE SPOONBIL ARE RUNNING !!!!!!!!

We dont have many of those here where i live, but out at one of the county rec parks there are several stocked in one of the gravel swimming pits. Every spring i go out there to mushroom hunt and if you stand on top of the cliffs and look down you can see them swimming, they are HUGE!!!
