Well...America just surrendered.

I wouldn't worry too much, Bush will most likely veto the bill and that's even if it reaches his desk. Hopefully the Republicans in the senate will filibuster or kill the bill before then.

Re: Well...America just surrendered.

Heard just a little on this on the news earlier this evening. Bush will veto it, they will not get the 2/3rds they need to overturn his veto. The war will go on, but this does not send the right message to our fine men and women who are making sacrifices, nor does it send the right message to our enemies.

The constant worry about my son's safety, for over 1-1/2 years while he was there...have not gone invain - but his work and his mission while he was have. Thanks Demo's for nothing. Here's hoping GW can veto and get the votes needed so our fighters can make mission and THEN come home safe.

Once our President veto's this, it will be up to the dems to try to get 2/3rds support. I really dont think it will ever happen.

Re: Well...America just surrendered.

No, not shame on them....our elected representatives.

Shame on us all for re-electing them. In the 1950's they would have probably been tried for doing this. Now it is applauded when a speech from an elected rep of the US can't be distinguished from al qaeda's if you take the name of the speaker off them.

Sad state of affairs and our fat, lazy stupid public lets it happen.

This seems aweful close to how the Roman empire fell.

Sorry new, but my state put a republican in office in the senate race, and a good conservative one at that. I cannot control what happens in other states. Can see you are back to posting your gloom and doom cynicism. So long as people think it is all over and are ready to just give up, you are right and we will have no hope.

Making these comments that it is everyones fault, just dont accomplish a blasted thing, and well quite honestly are a bit depressing.

Best as I can tell, Hillary has not been elected and there is a good ways until 08. If everyone was to hold the same type mentality that you have been posting here for quite some time, there is no doubt that you will get exactly what you want in the way of people being responsible for all that happens by not taking action, and she will get elected. Instead of focusing all that negative energy on those who want what is right, why not focus that energy directed to your own state representatives.

Re: Well...America just surrendered.

Well, WTN, clearly you aren't in the group I am talking about. I am talking about Pelosi, Reid, Feingold, Kennedy, Murtha, Clinton, McCain, et all's constituents who keep reelecting them. If you voted for someone else or aren't in a State sending these socialist, surrender at all costs Senators to Congress, then it doesn't apply. If you do, you just saw the results of your vote. I do recognize that I am preaching to the choir so to speak.

Oh, believe me, I have directed it at my reps. In fact, Chambliss will never get another vote from me because of some replies we exchanged and his pompous attitude.

As far as I am concerned, it SHOULD be depressing. As far as I am concerned, it is over and we don't have any hope. Barring some swing to the right again, it appears that the surrender crowd has won the day. They fanned their tails and puffed up their chests trying to prevent action in Iran and what happened? British hostages taken by Iran because they know we won't do anything about it except bicker between ourselves. The muslims have divided us without as much as an official war.

Our SENATE just passed a bill that would force a withdrawal of troups and take away the Constitutional power of the Commander in Chief to command troups as he sees fit. If that isn't scary and depressing, I don't know what is. My point is that the public at large can get all riled up when their fav is kicked off Dancing with the Stars or Idol but not when the Constitution is being tred on. Where is the collective outcry over this bill? Where are the calls for Senators to resign for not supporting our troups and Country? Oh wait, that's for the other side only to call on the impeachment of Bush for defending this Country.

Oh, wait, you are right.....out collective Congressmen didn't just pass a bill doing just that. I was wrong...oh wait, maybe I wasn't. Where are the Republicans who don't support this garbage? I heard a quote from maybe 1. They should be standing on the Capitol steps deriding what these Democrats have done en masse.

This modern day capitualization is disgusting and it just goes on. Find a shiny side of that if you will, but I can't find one. The generations coming up as the next blocks of voters have zero basis in history to use as a model of what weakness, division, and capitulation gets you.

Re: Well...America just surrendered.

Well, I understand and I have heard responses, but it is just unorganized. Yes, the mainstream media can stifle McConnell's reply. No doubt.

But the mainstream media cannot ignore 48 senators standing on the steps of the Capitol with a huge American flag behind them chastising the Democrats for surrendering to the enemy because the fight has gotten hard.

Maybe it is the Republican leadership that isn't standing up, I don't know. All I can tell you is that my perception is that the weak kneed Republicans are so worried about the vote of the pro-enemy crowd than they are the citizen patriots of the US.

We are conceading defeat to the enemy and no one seems to care.

Re: Well...America just surrendered.

what republican leadership are you talking about, new. i only see a republican LACK of leadership. and, i'm afraid, those spineless republicans learned nothing from the last election, and are all poised to run their campaign issues based on middle of the road policies, and get defeated. big. again

Re: Well...America just surrendered.

Well, I think we just came to the same conclusion at the same time.

The Democrats--at least the primary ones--Reid, Feingold, Boxer, Clinton, Obama, Kennedy, and Pilosi are organized and have a plan it seems. Unfortunately, it is a plan to surrender...but it is a plan no doubt.

When I try to thing about the new Republican leadership, I can't remember their names. Oh yes I can, boner...that's appropriate. Since the old grey man--see I already forgot his name--was ousted after the elections, I haven't heard one thing from the Republicans.

I get the feeling that we have all the Republicans just vying to stay alive next election (those that are up) and those that squeeked through last time are just licking their wounds.

The conservatives have been left. No one is sporting our cause.
