The New Bow

Well, I finally got my new bow today. grin.gif I went to a local pro shop and shot several different bows. I was expecting to come home with the Bowtech Equalizer or possibly a Martin Cheetah, but ended up with a brand that I completely overlooked while researching bows. I ended up coming home with an 07' Bear Element today. Now mind you the 07' Hoyt, Bowtech, and Martin bows are all nice, but the Bear Element just fit me better, was the quietest bow of the bunch, and the smoothest bow I shot today. At first I was a bit hesitant to shoot one because the last Bear bow I shot a few years ago didn't impress me, but I have to say Bear has improved a lot since I last shot their bows. The guy at the pro shop said the Bear bows sell out everytime he orders a shipment of them and that they were the most popular bows he was selling lately. One the female employees was there shooting hers in the target range while I was getting mine setup which was cool to see another female archer with the same bow enjoying it. I had some issues with picking out hunting arrows today for the bow, so I'm using temp arrows at the moment and even though they probably aren't the best setup arrows for this bow they are shooting great groups. Here's a few pictures of my new bow below.

What I have equipped on it at the moment is the following:

  • [*]Truglo Tru-Site Xtreme 5-Pin w/Sight Light

[*]Truglo Pro-Tune 5-Arrow Quiver

[*]Carolina Archery Whisker Biscuit Deluxe QS

[*]Maxima 38 3/16" Peep Sight

[*]True-Fire Five Star Center Nock

[*]True-Fire Hurricane Power Strap Release

[*]Vista Cold Weather Arm Guard

I tried the G5 Meta Peep in the bow and didn't like it today, so I gave that to my father and he got me the Maxima Peep with tubing instead which was much better. I also tried a bunch of stabilizers on my bow and I shot better without a stabilizer than with one on. I wasn't having any bow noise or vibration problems, so not shooting with a stabilizer isn't going to effect me any really. One thing I didn't pick up that I'm going to get is a custom sling from a guy online that makes them. Other than that and the arrows I got everything else I need, bow wise, for archery season this year. Now I just have to get a treestand harness and some archery clothing and I'm all set for the season. grin.gif

Hopefully tomorrow is a nice clear warm day so I can sight in my bow some more. I managed to get the 10yrd pin sighted in before dark. Now I just have to do my 20, 25, 30, and 40yrd pins. I also need to crank it up to the 42lbs that I wanted it at. We were running out of time before them closing tonight so we told him we'd get its lbs changed another day. It's currently at 36lbs and too easy of a draw for me. I want it up at my hunting lbs so that I can get some serious practice in on that weight.

Re: The New Bow

Yep soon as I get my draw weight and arrow situation straightened out I'll definately take some pictures of my groups. At the moment my temp arrows, though grouping well, aren't really the best setup to shoot out of my bow. They were just my arrows from my old bow being used until I can make up my mind on what carbon setup I'm switching to with my bow.

Yeah we have a pretty sweet game room in this house it has a pinball machine (fish tales), tabletop touch screen, two slot machines, rebound shuffleboard, foosball table, and bowling machine (aka shuffle alley). All my younger cousins constantly come over here to play in our game room. It's a major hit when we have parties even with the adults. cool.gif

Congrats, great looking set-up! How do youl ike the TruGlo sight? I'm thinking about getting the same one as yours...I think:)

I love it! Even without my sight light turned on, that it came with, its pins are still really bright. I really love how the fiber optics wrap around the outside of the shooter's ring and having the clear protective sleeve overtop of them allowing them to collect light better. I got the one without the tooless parts on it because I didn't care for the idea of being able to snag those on something and have them come unscrewed and the sight move. I don't mind the little extra work with an allen wrench while practicing in the backyard. The guy at the proshop really liked my sight choice he said it was a good choice. There were a couple other brands with similar layouts, but this sight was a lot lighter in weight than the others and a whole lot cheaper. If you get one I don't think you'll be disappointed. smile.gif

Very nice!

I am hoping I have my parents talked into a new bow for graduation...I'll have to keep that one in mind. I don't know any girls that shoot so everyone I ask adivce of, all they now about is 29 inch draw lengths and 70#...lol...

Again, nice bow! Hope you smoke a bunch of deer with it this fall!
