LifeNRA
With all the points I have, gift cards, merchandise credit cards, and this new $20 off card in the mail. Ill only have to spend $46 on this new Cabela's Full-Draw 5X, it normally costs $200. But not sure yet if this is the one that I want! So, who uses what blind, and why do you like it? IllinoisHunter
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I use a Dog House blind sometimes. No matter how hard I try to hide it, the deer can spot it from a mile away (kinda shiny though). Did manage to kill a turkey out of it. Guest okla_bowhunter
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I recently bought a double bull matrix 360 and it is awesome. I is huge, and relitively light weight(20 lbs.) and the camo is made for blinds. If your budget allows, i would definently seek out a double bull. I got mine for $325. M00N
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I use the Cabela's Lightning Set 4-Season Hunting Blind. It so far has worked really great. Had an owl last turkey season that couldn't figure out what I was inside it even after sticking a head through one the windows and looking in, it still thought I was a turkey. lol
johnf
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I use a doghouse blind and have had deer come within 5 yards of me out in an oak flat.
wtnhunt
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? Was going to get a doghouse for taking my oldest turkey hunting this spring, but never got around to it, so constructed a homemade ground blind out of bamboo type grass instead. Will probably still get a doghouse blind eventually.
3whunt
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I used a blind last year, not sure of the brand. I won't be doing that next season. The deer spotted us right away, everytime they came in. We hid it well too. They would probably work well if the deer got used to them. I've gone to new places several times, set up my doghouse for the first time in the area that morning and never have been noticed. This fall we had a doe come within 10 feet of our stand and she never noticed untill my dad moved. (had the window open)
buckee
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I mainly use my home-made grass blinds or camo netting mixed with natural stuff. It fools them good. I've had deer so close you could reach out and touch them. That's a pretty sweet looking blind John. I could see that one blending in almost anywhere. Better than some of the alternatives. LifeNRA
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? Deer in my area do not like blinds that were just set up! My father last year had deer come into him but would never get closer than 60-80 yards! Turkeys on the other hand, well they must be dumber than dirt! LOL! They will walk right up to it! Which is why I have been wanting one since. I would like to take my daughter out, thought this would be the best way to get her in the woods! This way she can take somethings along to amuse herself until something comes along. Plus, taking my nephew out for the early youth turkey hunt in about three weeks. Thanks for the replies! Mach1
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? Used a Doghouse this past fall a few times until it was stolen out of the woods. Had a coyote and a decent 8pt come within 10 yds of it. We'd put it out weeks before we planned to hunt it and also put a bunch of brush around it as well. The location we had it also had a bunch of treetops from some logging that had been done earlier in the year, so a big blob of "brush" didn't stand out too much. My brother bought a Brickhouse off of ebay a couple months ago for $60 and had to replace two poles in it for $12. Total cost of $72 for a blind that was well over $100 new. Hoping to take a turkey with a bow out of it this spring.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I would say if you only have to pay $46.00 get it, you will be happy with it and if not can easily get your money back out of it and then some. I have both the outhouse and stackhouse and love having them for times when a blind is needed. Good luck with your choice but for $46.00 you can't go wrong IMHO. arrow32
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? Have used a dog house quite a bit like it a lot to. Used a double-bull a couple times and dang those things are nice but no way the wallet could affored one.
EKYhunter
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? If you're going to buy a blind, get a double bull. You won't regret it!
RangerClay
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I have a Doghouse TSC. I used it once for deer last year and passed on a doe. I plan to use it with my daughter for turkeys this May. Ask me this question again in June and I will tell you more.
MarineBwhnter
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? We use the doghouse. I was kinda skeptical about them but after using it the first time last year we were sold! I camo'd it in with some branches and my wife killed her first deer with a bow in it! Broadside at 7 yds! We had about 8 or 9 deer within 15yds and was never noticed. It worked almost too good when the skunk came too close!!
Guest Hardcore
Re: Blinds? Who uses them??? I use the blinds from Ameristep. I pay about $50 or less for them. They are not the pop out type. You have to put the sticks together for the roof. I have never had a deer spook from any of them. I have large ones and small ones. They help when the weather is bad. The key with all blinds is placeing it in a spot that has natural breaks from its view. Under a tree limb or in grass. To put on in the middle of a plowed field will work for turkey but not for deer. They do make a rainy day much more enjoyable.
