Re: DANG GAS!

Gas prices are about to spike again.... HEADS UP.

The claim is that OPEC cut production again (less product to sale) which translates to higher gas... again. The report out is that gas will drop the middle of April but dont hold your breath. Summer/spring is also here so with less product and more consumption (vacations, hunting, boating, bikes, quads, lawn mowers, etc).

We also just sold a TON of burners (refinery heaters) so someone is stepping up production. It will take a while for that ripple effect to move to the pump but prices should drop a fuzz sooner or later.

Re: DANG GAS!

It is the same old same old.

Summer driving season increases demand....demand decreases supply.....decreased supply increases competition for what's left.....prices spike.

We also have the Iranian crisis going on and they just took some British soldiers hostage on the high seas in the gulf starting what could be the first shot in a war with Iran.

Plus, you have opec that freaked when oil plummetted and cut production.

Plus, you have your friendly neighborhood environmentalist that has required this blend for this state and that blend of gas for another. We don't have enough refineries in America to produce these blends and when they have to stop to change to a different blend it just causes more supply constriction.

Finally, you have the polititicans like Hillary Clinton who thinks it is the government's job to take away the profits of oil companies (private companies mind you) to start a strategic energy reserve. If she is successful, how many minutes will it take before Senators start putting IOU's in that fund and taking the money out for this pet project or that?

But no, Lord forbid, we DON'T need to tap into the huge reserves of oil here in America in Alaska nor off the coast of Florida so that we can be independent of the towel heads messing with our prices...nope, that's a BAD IDEA! Keep in mind that if the towel heads and Hugo Chavez decided to stop selling us gas for 6 months, we would be sunk.

Re: DANG GAS!

I'm still surprised that some don't understand in here that oil, gasoline, and natural gas is a commodity just like cattle, corn, pork bellies, etc. The price is based on the futures market. The lastest jump in price is from the fear of what might happen to supply with the Iran situation. Here's a link to the latest news.

Hopefully this issue will be resolved and the Wall Street traders will let the price settle back where it was again. That is if we don't show an oil or gasoline stock shortage on the next report. smirk.gif

Re: DANG GAS!

I don't know who is saying that gas prices will go down mid-April.

Under normal circumstances, prices rise beginning now and peak around labor day and start coming down as demand from the summer driving season lets up.

Add that we are amassing troups and equipment on the border of Iran along with another carrier and air wing in anticipation of a strike on Iran and prices will SKYROCKET. But even if gas went to $5 a gallon, if it gets rid of those freaking Iranian shaws, clerics, and that bozo President it is a small price to pay. Iran has been the biggest state sponsor of terrorism going. Tick tick tick.

Its all over the news. My guess is they are trying to pad the impact of higher prices by promises of lower gas in the future.....

CAN YOU SAY ETHANOL?

Can you say glass sand? laugh.gif

If priced decrease (other than a penny or so) before September/October, THAT would be an anomoly in and of itself. History doesn't support anything but price increases through Labor Day unfortunately.

Great time to buy a boat, huh? wink.gif

Move to Canada and then complain, $1 a litre here, that's about $3.50 a gallon.

Yep you are getting hosed up there Saskman. Approximately 57% of our imported oil comes from 4 countries. One of those is Canada and we buy gas cheaper here. Ya'll don't need to import oil, just export it since you have a lot more than you need. Go figure. smirk.gif
