markyj987
There are two Presbyterian ministers who have really good radio programs, Dr. Alan Cairns (Free Presbyterian Church of North America) and Dr. D. James Kennedy (Presbyterian Church in America). Though I don't agree with some of the Reformed theology they both teach, their sermons are generally fantastic. Though I am a confessional Lutheran (if I must label myself...lol), I'm wondering if anyone knows the differences between these two Presbyterian denominations. I'm familiar with the PCUSA (the most "liberal" Presbyterian denomination, I cannot find much online about these other two groups.

TreeWalker
Re: Presbyterian denominations Wow...I can't help you out either....I was born into a Congregational church, dated a Southern Baptist, and after we married we have been attending an Assemblies of God church since. Somebody on these fourms should be able to help you out though.....

Guest swampfox
Kennedy is with the PCA or Presbyterian Church in America which broke away from the more theologically liberal PCUSA about 40 years ago. In America the PCA is second in size next to the PCUSA as far as presbyterian churches go. Cairns is with the Free Presbyterian Church which started about 60 years ago in N. Ireland. It is more conservative than the PCA. It also formed due to increasing numbers of theologically liberal ministers in the mainline presbyterian churches. FPC is fairly small in N. America, only about 30 churches. Both are great preachers and their theology is very similar. They have taken similar stands against controversial matters like ECT (Evangelicals and Catholics Together). Cairns recently retired from his church.
