Summit Openshot?

Im picking up a new Summit this year. I REALLY want a light stand. The used ones I have are much heavier then need be (cheap stands).

I saw where the Summit Open shot is something like 14lbs. Anyone ever sit in one of these? The Floor appears to be 4" smaller. Im worried about moving around and shooting from different angles....

What say ye? I know the Viper and others are Great stands... Im looking for the weight factor. Ill have some distance to walk to a few new spots this year.

Re: Summit Openshot?

here's a suggestion, i live by LoneWolf treestands for many reasons. First off, the noise factor. when you set this treestand up, there is absolutely no metal on metal contact, which makes noise. Other stands use a pin with a chain, or some other noisy locking system. the lone wolf uses a rubber band (reinforced with steel cables running through it) with notches in it, and a clamp thats completely silent. Another thing, when im walking through the woods, i dont want to be three feet wider because i got a stand hangin off my back. the lonewolf folds down to about two inches, quit remarkable for a climber! I used to have an API and it's all put together with metal tubing, well there was a loose bead of weld rolling around inside the tubing, and that costed me a few deer. Lonewolfs are made of a cast frame-one piece- thats it! there's also a spot to hang your bow molded right in the frame, and hooks to wrap up your bowstring. this stand was made for bowhunting and i absolutely love it. if you want more info go to lonewolftreestands.com

Re: Summit Openshot?

I asked the same question over at AT.com a few months ago, I was looking for a Summit Openshot top only to replace my Razor X5 top. Less weight is what I was looking for as well. More than a few guys suggested looking for something else, they said the bar under the seat starts to hurt your bum after sitting in it for a little bit, not very comfortable. Just FYI.
