Exturkinator
This passage is very convicting to me - sins of omission are so common in my life, yet I have become "comfortable" with them... They are SINS nonetheless. James 4: 13-17 13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. MadHuntinPastor
Re: The Word can be pretty convicting... James is my favorite book of the Bible. Doesn't matter how many times I read it I get convicted each time.
Jeramie
Re: The Word can be pretty convicting... and thats why its called "The living word." Ive never been convicted by reading a field and stream. Good stuff!
preacherman
Re: The Word can be pretty convicting... I am teaching through James in my Sunday School class right now. We are fixing to get to the part in chapter 1 which talks about the "engrafted word". I am really looking forward to that.

Oh, and how much more those words are magnified today, after hearing of David's death. Thank you Lord.
Jeramie
14. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. As impactful as the word is and as horrific as the loss is, this magnifies the truth. Id like to say the Irony here is so thick but in reality believers know our Lord holds the future. We lost a good friend but its obvious to me that God used him for a work. He did, after all, post this before his untimely death. I do take joy in knowing that at that very Moment, our dear friend heard the words that instantly moves my heart, "Enter in my good and faithful servent." Bachflock
Thank you for posting that back up. God really is amazing in how He uses things to remind us of who He truly is to us.
spikekiller
Oneida man said: Sharper than any two edged sword... I have had some extra time on my hands tonight and have been reading through some of these threads...and this quote is special to me because when i hear it I always think of bowhunting...let me explain. All us bowhunters know that the cardinal rule in bowhunting is keep your broadheads razor sharp...why? well there are two reasons...one is a sharp BH results in a clean kill of course but the other reason is in the event of a nonlethal shot a wound from a sharp BH is much more likely to heal faster...much like a surgeon uses a scalpel. The word of God is the same way...sure its sharp and sometimes hurts but the cut will be so clean that it will heal quickly and make us the better for it.
