Guest Ironhorse
Have any of you used Pattern Master chokes tubes for waterfowling? I'm interested in putting one on my SBE, but haven't seen a whole lot of feedback. Thanks.
DU_man_84
Re: Pattern Master i personally have not used one, but ive talked to people who love them for their pattern and some people think they are too tight, its more of a preferrence to your shooting, but i heard they throw out pretty tight patterns
joebobhunter4
Re: Pattern Master ive got one for my SBE2... it takes some getting used to and missing birds. but once you get it down... you knock the birds down hard.
coles
Re: Pattern Master i have one and i used it on opening day this past season. and im sad to say that i had to shoot 4 boxes of shells to kill my 7 duck limit. the next time i went out i got my limit in less than half a box. i will only use it goose hunting from now on or for pass shooting where a tight pattern is good for long range. but not good for close pass shooting and decoying. tears em up pretty good. Randy
Re: Pattern Master What do you normally use? I normally use a modified with #2's for ducks. I shoot an 870 and bought a patternmaster. It takes a bit of getting used to. It is definately much tighter. When you hit your target it WILL fall dead. I went back to my modified and will keep the patternmaster for turkeys. Guest Ironhorse
I normally shoot either 3.5 inch 2s, 3s or BBs with a factory modified choke. It is probably operator error, but I don't feel like birds get hit hard enough. You know, you can see them change the way they are flying or a feather or two falls out. Of you guys that have tried the Pattern Masters, which model did you use? I understand that they have three or four different constrictions. coles
if you hit them with the pattern master they will fall but that is the catch. YOU HAVE TO HIT THEM!!!!!! they have the regular pattern master and then they have the extended and i think the extended is tighter than the regular one. i could be wrong but thats how i understand it. i have the extended one and i would not recommend it for close range decoying ducks. it WILL make a mess of them. if you want a good extended choke i would go with carlson's extended modified. i have one of them also and i have shot ducks that were really high and they dropped dead. i was really surprised. and another thing with the pattern master is that you cant shoot hevi-shot.
