Saw a strutter today!!

Just got home from school.. Today we went on a field trip to Rockland Community College for a Constructon Career Day Expo. Anyway, the show was ok but the coolest part about the whole thing is that while we were on our way over there we had to stop the bus to let two hens and a tom cross the road. The tom was in full strut the whole time and had two beards!!! OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT TIL THE SEASON!!! 22 days!!!

The whole time we were at the college I kept thinking, wow that was awesome! The birds are strutting already!! They must be gobbling on the roost as well, right? I'm gonna head on out tomorrow morning and sunday morning at our property upstate and listen for some gobbles. Try and figure out where these birds are before the season. smile.gif

Re: Saw a strutter today!!

They're strutting and gobbling alright! You're not the only one that's chomping at the bit to get out there after those gobbling redheads. Here's a few pics. from my past couple of mornings scouting trips. Ole split-tail is at the top of my hit-list for the opening morning of youth season. Hopefully, my cousin can take him or one of his buddies out before the out-of-state moron comes up for the whole opening week of season and messes things up on my buddies farm for the rest of the season... mad.gif. I saw another flock of 40-50 birds right off the road this morning with several big strutters in the group...unfortunately, I didn't have my video camera with me at the time.

If it's not raining tomorrow morning, I'm heading out to find some turkey roosting, then watch them perty close to see what they do when, where they go, etc.

I got about as many days as you got, man! 21 days!

Take care,

Nathan
