Guest Andrea
How many of you have read the Bible from cover to cover?? And was it the King James verzion , NIV or some other version?? I am sad to admit that I have not read the whole thing. But I'd like to. I've heard that if one wants to....then they shouldn't read straight thru from Genesis to Revelations. That seems dumb to me. Why wouldn't you read from the beginning to the end???
Ravin R10 man
Re: Read the whole Bible? just mix it up with about 3 chapters of the old testament and about half a chapter of the new testament every day, and yes start at the beginning of each. KJV & NIV for me , and NLT for , Kim
HarvDog
Re: Read the whole Bible? I have started reading through a couple of times but never finished. I need to commit to it again and do it. Many of the "read through the entire Bible" schedule have you read some in the OT and some in the NT in order to finish in a year. The other reason for NOT reading from Genesis to Revelation would be because it isn't in cronological order.

Strut10
Re: Read the whole Bible? Not yet. I'm plugging away at the New Testament now.......beginning to end......except I already read Revelation. Have read some of the Old Testament.....chapter here, chapter there. Some of it is pretty stoic reading.

christsavedme
Re: Read the whole Bible? Buckee, I know what you mean. My wife got me this Bible for Christmas this year. It is called a Go Bible and it looks like an Ipod. The whole Bible is on this thing and there are several options. You can pick any verse to listen to or you can pick a story of the Bible to listen to. It also has a read the Bible in a year feature on it! I have been doing it and going to go through it that way. I have read most of it before, just never all the way through. Oh yea that would be NIV!
Guest Andrea
Re: Read the whole Bible? I can't understand a lot of the King James Version. I like the NIV the best. I think I might check out the bible on cd thing.......

TreeWalker
Re: Read the whole Bible? I know I in fact have not read as much of the Bible as I should have......I tend to bounce around alot, and don't cover alot of the old testament.......I'm gonna have to make a solid effort, maybe even getting a study guide to help me out... preacherman
Re: Read the whole Bible? Andrea..............try looking at the English Standard Version. It is an easier read; but really tough to beat as far as a translation. I have good feelings about it and am very comfortable reading and studying this version as a Pastor. As far as a Bible plan........there are some out there that allow you to read from the OT one day, the NT the next and you would read a Psalm and a Proverb every day. It breaks everything up and it helps me read my Bible each and every day.
SUGARKAHNE
Re: Read the whole Bible? I usually try to read the Bible through every year. I don't read it straight through because I tend to get bogged down in the Old Testament-especially in the long books like Isaiah and Jeremiah, so I read one chapter in Proverbs, a few chapters in the Old Testament, and a few chapters in the New Testament daily. I read the King James Version-it's really not that hard to understand and a lot of the other versions omit words and whole verses that are important. I'd encourage you to definitely get a reading plan-if you read four chapters a day you can read through the Bible in a year.
