Sunday Hunting ???

What States still have a law on the books that does not allow hunting on Sunday.

New York had boundry that spilt the state east and west. Anything west of the boundry Sunday hunting was prohibited. Now with a Saturday opening day the boundry has been removed.

I was just wondering how many states still ban hunting on Sunday?

Re: Sunday Hunting ???

As far as I know, there are seven states that do not allow hunting on Sunday's. They are Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. A few others have restricted hunting on Sundays like private land only, certain installations, etc. Those are Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia I believe.

Finally, I am out of those areas and can hunt every day during the season, now, all I need to do is draw a tag.

Re: Sunday Hunting ???

The only law we have on our books regarding Sunday hunting is no hunting season can open on a Sunday. In that case (like opening day of bowseason - Oct. 1st, or turkey season - March 15th) if the opening date falls on a Sunday, the season opens a day early on Saturday.

My state has always allowed Sunday hunting, and for this I am thankful. In the states that don't allow it, you can get drunk on Sunday, fish, committ adultery, shop, work, and the list goes on. I could never understand the ban. If you don't want to hunt on Sunday, then don't, but don't stop someone, who may just have Sunday to hunt from doing so
