maddhunter
We are detting some extremely cold weather here in Oklahoma this week. I was just wondering what ya'll thought about when the deer would move best in these conditions. It's going to be below freezing for the next week or so and strong North winds with wind chills already below ZERO.
billygoat
Re: Cold Weather and Deer Movement???????????? It's been Butt cold here and it only seems to get the deer up and going... I sat on the edge of a swamp, along the road the other day... temps @ 0, and watched 10 or so deer, over a period of fifteen minutes... middle of the day. Also been seeing a fair amount of movement right toward dusk... remember, if it's cold, they have to provide nutrition to themselves to maintain body heat. Chrud
Re: Cold Weather and Deer Movement???????????? [ QUOTE ] It's been Butt cold here and it only seems to get the deer up and going... [/ QUOTE ] Althought I haven't been out bowhunting these -18 degree temps yet, cold does kick the deer in gear and they seem to move all day. Especially if the farmer hasn't taken off soybeans yet, they'll be all over it!

magnatecsteve
Re: Cold Weather and Deer Movement???????????? Difinately key in on food, but also look for ravines, hillsides, ditches...anything that protects them from the wind.
