Amazing Topwater Bass Action Day!!

Boy oh boy…this past Friday sure was a outstanding day. I started off the day putting my 2nd gobbler of the season in the bag so I spent most of the rest of my day bass fishing in our lake after I cleaned my bird.

To say the least it was the most unbelievable bass fishing action I’ve ever had fishing topwater. I started off catching 4 bass (no big ones) on a junebug chopstick before I decided to try a topwater bait. I tied on a tiny torpedo (shown in the forth pic) and caught a bass on the first cast. After catching my 18th bass, I lost that bait to a big bass right at the boat. The closest thing I had to the same thing as that colored tiny torpedo was a skipjack (shown in fifth pic). I caught fish on it too but not quite the kind of action I had with the bait I lost. All in all, I put 32 bass in the boat fishing topwater Saturday. Released them all back into our lake. The biggest bass I caught weighed in at 5 lb. 2 oz. I caught 6 more fish tipping the scales between 3 and 5 lbs. In addition to the bass I got into the boat, 10 more didn’t quite make it there, including the big one that broke off my tiny torpedo next to the boat. I couldn’t tell you how many bass I flat missed. You know when they are bustin the surface like that you tend to get excited. It was the most amazing top water bass fishing days I’ve ever had. Here’s 5 of the bass I caught Saturday. Since I was fishing by myself I used the boat paddle for comparison. The skinny, long looking bass are females that have already spawned.
