Guest cepryan
In the last realtree outdoors episode i saw on the outdoors channel there was a segment on deer herd managment. They mentioned the three things need for a good herd. A good buck to doe ratio is important for many reasons. I am from AZ and it seems to me that even most casual hunters here know that this is a problem' because three years ago AZGFD stopped doe hunts which were available during archery season. None of the game wardens seem to see or maby just dont care how much the herds in AZ are hurting because of the lack of food and bad managment. Most other hunters i talk to would even be happy if AZGFD stopped hunts or decreased the amount of tags for a few years to help our herds flurish again. There are many other things that contribute to this like, different perdator and trapping rules, low amounts of rain and snow, and others. WHat can we do to help? and what can do to make the people who make the rules listen?
wtnhunt
Re: dear herd management Welcome to the forums. Speak up to your wildlife resources people. Let them know your opinions. Far as people who violate the rules, report them.
dogdoc
Re: dear herd management unusual problem to have in these days--most states are trying to reduce herd numbers and thus increasing doe harvest. I have to agree with William--you need write letters to the DNR biologist and possible attend meetings to voice your opinion. Call your wildlife dep't and find out who is in charge and write a letter to them and find out if there are any meetings you can attend on the matter.
