billygoat
Well, with Christmas quickly approaching, I wait in great anticipation for the always enjoyed Gander Mountain Gift Cards (that my in-laws always get me). Have already made up my mind that I need to upgrade my bow sight and am wondering if you all would offer some of your insight (what kind of question is that). I am leaning towards the trophy ridge series, however I am keeping my options open... what are your thoughts.

NYBUCK
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! Billygoat, before you buy one, check out the vitalbowgear sites. They are awesome. Just ask the guys at the NY smackdown how bright mine is. I really like it. I went to the Harrisburg show last year all set to buy a copper john and when I saw the Vitalbowgear, I was completely blown away.

Chrud
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! I used a Team Extreme Sniper XLT (600) with 0.019" pins. I love that sight. It is a lot like the Copper John Dead Nuts, but the sight window is smaller. And with a 1/8" peep, the orange around the sight window lines up with the inside of my peep, so you can always tell when your centered. Extreme Sniper XLT It comes in black or Realtree X-tra Grey, for 2003 or older Mathews bows. Here is the black one.

huntinsonovagun
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! I tend to lean AWAY from the Trophy Ridge. Just seems like too much in the way. Sure, you can see more of the deer, but there is black pins behind all of the fiberoptic ends, therefore you really can't see what is behind those pins. Just my preference. That aside, I would go with Copper John, Spott Hogg, or, my favorite, Impact Archery. This is the cosmic. I can see this sucker right up until last shooting light through my peep!!! This dude is BRIGHT!! Here's how I sight in....set pin at 30 yards, aim at top of back for 40 yard shots, bottom of chest at 20 yards. Can't miss a deer!!! Even if you miss judge distance by a few yards!! You can also move it when a deer comes in to the distance that you judge it at. They also have other sights. www.impactarchery.com Spot Hogg has some nice ones. 100% lifetime guarantee. Bare Bones is most popular I think. I have heard they may be hard to adjust pins though. http://www.spot-hogg.com Finally, Copper John. Well made sight no doubt!! My buddy shoots one and really likes it. If not for the Impact, I would probably have a Copper John on my bow. Some nice sights, with SEVERAL to choose from. I recommend the 3 pin though, unless you plan on some LOOONG shots....such as antelope, etc. If it were me, I would remove the pins and have only one pin, sighted like I explained above. Again, it is all your preference, but I challenge you to give it a try. It is almost impossible (keyword: almost) to miss a deer, unless you really misjudge distance bad!!! (like 20 yards of, etc.) Anyway, I am just throwing out suggestions, pick what you think will work best for your needs. http://www.copperjohn.com/ Good luck!! billkay
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! I had the Trophy Ridge and wasn't thrilled with it. I really liked the 1 pin Impact Archery Cosmic site. Awesome! Nothing brighter, period. I recently began using the 1 pin Tru Glo slider style site and I'm becoming very fond of it in a hurry. NY911Bowhunter
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! Heres my deal with the second sight. I had a Guide Series Matrix, the head snapped off. I lost it in the woods somewhere. It also had the LED light on it. I called TR, spoke to Shawna in Customer Service, advised her of the situation. She said to mail back the deffective peice, and since this was my SECOND guide series sight that has failed, they would mail me out a regular Matrix series sight and a new LED light. Cool! I ordered it with her, Mossy Oak camo, 3 pin in the .029 size. It came today! I opened it to be disapointed! First of all - it says on the shipping order the LED should be in there - it was not. I ordered it in Mossy Oak Break Up - it came in Realtree Xtra Grey - no big deal - especially if I get the Legacy - it will match it! The isght has those crappy wing nuts on it - the ones that come loose. I called TR - they are going to send me the LED Light - I forgot to ask for the hex head bolts to replace the wingers though. They do have great Customer Service - but dang it is getting frustrating having to call and wait and ship and pray they get it right. I love Trophy Ridge - their product has brought out the best in my shooting ability. As far as giving the sight up - naaaaaa, I'm starting to collect components for the back up bow when I find it! Still need a TT Shakey Hunter and a Sims modular stabilizer though!
VermontHunter
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! geeze,,911 sounds like a nightmare...YIKES !!! now I'm not to sure if I want the Matrix....I'm not exactly the gentlest person there is out there...LOL
NY911Bowhunter
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! I think with the regular Matrix you should be OK. Just make sure to get the hex head bolts to replace the wing nuts. I love the sight - especially the vertical stack. I will say though - dollar for dollar - the VBG line of sights looks like abetter bang for ther buck. The returniung and replacement of TR sights is SO commonplace - it is a wonder how they turn a profit - other than sheer volume in sales from earlier this year. Unfortunalty their reputation is slipping. You will see posts everywhere on the quality of their customer service - and no doubt it is top notch! My take on that is this - If a product is truely of high quality - you will never have to find out just how good their customer service is! Either sight you can not go wrong with. VermontHunter
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! I definately have to agree with ya on the quality concept..if it's built to last and perform you shouldn't have to worry about the customer service. I'll definately have to mull over the choices that are out there...this is one of the reasons I love this forum I get to get opinions right from the field from the people that use these products as I would.. NY911Bowhunter
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! VermontHunter
Re: Need a new sight, how about some advice! WOW !!! That really counts down on the actual use of your bow for practice and hunting... I hope you had a backup sight....That really sucks..You would think that Trophy Ridge would have upgraded your sight for ya free of charge..
