Re: Who all plays baseball here?

I played on a few traveling teams and one year of JV as a freshman. Depending on the team, I played 2B or 3B and usually hit in the two hole. On some of the better teams I hit lower in the lineup, and I pitched a little too but wasn't the best at that. I had a decent curve and could throw a change pretty good, but my fastball used to get hit hard sometimes.

It was a lot of fun and I wish I would have just stuck with it and played throughout High School. Hockey was pretty much a year round thing for me, so it conflicted and prevented me from playing other sports too. I would have really loved to go out for football.

I thought hockey would take me somewhere and it didn't. So in hindsight, I wish I would have tried to stick with other sports too. frown.gif

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

Played on my high school varsity team from 7th grade on. Was our starting pitcher and played shortsop when I wasn't pitching. Usually batted in the 3 or 4 hole.

Had a chance to play college but turned down the smaller scholarship in order to concentrate on my academic scholarship(had to maintain a 3.5 to keep it).

After graduation, a friend and I started up a men's softball tournament and played for 5-6 years. Normally played 3B and batted almost everywhere in the lineup. We won state one year and came in 2nd or 3rd a few times.

Thinking about joining the church softball team here pretty soon. Trying to get back in playing shape before I do.grin.gif

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

i played tennis during high school so i didn't play on the varisty or any of that...but in our area there is a summer league made up of all the high schools in the area, it was basically made up of all the varsity players, i played on that team... i could have played varsity but just never wanted to....i played 2nd, SS, left and right field...hit towards the bottom of the lineup. it was fun...looking back i kind of wish i would have played all 4 years of high school.

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

Played in high school, played a lot of centerfielder and when I was needed I played Catcher. Catcher is a lot of fun, because you can sit there and just plain out make the batter angry. The reason I love to play Centerfielder or even an outfielder for that matter is because you can be hated or loved. You can robb a guy from a monster homerun, or you can miss a easy fly ball and lose the game....gotta love the pressue.

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

Currently a senior. Have lettered since my freshman year, and started every game since sophomore year. I'm primarily a first baseman, but have started varsity games as a pitcher, catcher, first baseman, third baseman, left fielder, right fielder, and DH. We are 6-0 in our district right now, with 4 more left. My Senior night is thursday, planning on making a post afterwards on it.

Currently in hitting .365 in 52 official at bats. 6 2b, 2 3b and 6 hrs

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

played since I was around 5 years old. I was the starting centerfielder for my highschool team all four years in HS. Was also a pitcher my soph-senior year. I won several awards while playing and was recruited to play for Kansas State, East Central, Eastern ( my current school ), and Northeastern Oklahoma State. I was sick of ball at the time the offers came, and since I was awarded an all-state, and LRC conference MVP, I was mister hotshot I thought I was too good and turned them ALL down. I was burnt out. Hate to admit now that it was one of my biggest mistakes. I miss playing ball, and could still easily walk on at any college ( Div 2 ) in the state, but I'm to far into my education and career to go back now. So if ya EVER get a chance to play college ball, TAKE IT! You'll regret it if ya don't!

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

Played from the time I could walk and my career ended after my freshman year of college ball. My best single season was my senior year in HS when I hit around .500 and hit 8 HR's. I played 3B and occasionally First. My grades really suffered my Freshman year of college and I did not return the following year and gave up baseball all together. But I still love the game and watch it whenever I can. On a different note, I went to the same HS as Daniel Bard, the starting pitcher for UNC last year in the College World Series title game. He got drafted in the First Round by the Red Sox.

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

I played clear up through high school. Played all infield positions until i got to high school and then i was starting left fielder for 4 years. I was a left handed hitter but threw right handed. Usually batted in either the 2 or 3 hole. Hit .415 my senior year, led team in hits,RBI's,average and OBP. Also received team MVP and was first team North Central Conference in Indiana. Turned down several opportunities to continue my career in college and boy do i regret that decision. When i was a freshman i was teammates with Aaron Heilman, now a relief pitcher for the New York Mets. He is the one that gave up that HR last year that sent the Cards to the series. Other then that he's done quite well for himself.

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

Couldn't do the football thing in H.S. cause of a knee injury from jumping from tractor to ground,Who uses those silly narrow steps??????,so I played ball when my grades would allow it.Then after graduation I played men's softball and loved it,until I tore both ligaments in my already IFFY knee tried playin again a couple years after it was supposedly healed and guess what?caused me to miss bow season and early muzzleloader, and my shotty knee still isn't quite right...

Re: Who all plays baseball here?

Played from the time I was 8 until about 30 up thru high school, college, pro tryouts that didn't go anywhere, and amateur ball. Then played softball till around 40 when the competitiveness starting gettin the best of my body. Now it's just golf in the summer and it's alot easier on my limbs...
