PAbowhunter86
I have read alot about trail cams and the effectiveness of them to help with scouting. Well I would like to buy one. I dont want somthing that is expenive because it will most likely be stolen. I was thinking about one from walmart, it is a 300,000 pixel digtial camera and only cost $58. I was wondering if anyone has pictures from a camera that is the same quailty or around the same. Also any advice would be helpful.

Shaun_300
Re: Trail Cam It'd probably work ok, but the quality of the pics wouldn't be too good. 300,000 pixels is only 0.3MP, I think I'd go with something at least 2.5-3.0MP to get some good pics. arrow32
Re: Trail Cam If its the Moultire(sp?) they take decent pics but not the best. Tell me what model and I can get you some pics. Few guys on MO have a couple of them.
wtnhunt
Re: Trail Cam Think the money spent, I would not waste my time with a camera like that. You can lock cams, even still they can be stolen, but if you want something effective for being able to consistently get decent pics where you can determine what you are looking at, you are probably going to have to spend a little more. Have gotten into building my own, really no comparing a commercial cam to a homebrew.

wtnhunt
Re: Trail Cam Cams can be an effective scouting tool. Just remember that those cams migght or might not trigger, trigger times might be ok, but then they might be slow. Pic quality and flash range might leave you wondering on the pics you do get what you are seeing. If you are ok knowing that going in, you wont likely be too disappointed. Hoyt03
Re: Trail Cam I would NOT get that 0.3mp stealth wildview camera from walmart. First off it does not even have time or date stamp which I think is very important when trying to see when deer are in the area. Second the pictures are not that great, really fuzzy. I have the same exact camera but in the 2.0 megapixels. It's a few more dollars but will take ALOT better pics and gives you time and date on each pic. The 2.0 would be the lowest camera I'd go with from this company. I love my camera and it was not real expensive, just stay away from the walmart 0.3 mp one. snapper
Re: Trail Cam I got the Wildview Xtreme 3...which I believe is 3.1mp if I remember right. I'm pleased with it so far...takes nice pics. and works well. I got it at basspro for $120 something? Anyway, I just posted two picture in here using that camera...check 'em out! Hoyt03
Re: Trail Cam Agree with snapper, the 2.0 and 3.1 mega pixel stealth wildviews do a fine job. It's that 0.3 megapixel one that I would stay away from.
