Me and my dad took our bows to our house upstate this past weekend and shot quite a bit. I shot my Browning Rage and he shot his recurve he has. Here are some pics and vids.

My dad (adjam5) shooting his recurve:

I have a vid of my dad shooting, but Photobucket won't upload it. I'll try later on tonight.

Re: Archery pics and vids from this weekend

The target was 15 yards for the recurve and 20 for the compound.

I have never shot a recurve before that weekend and I have to say I did pretty good. One thing I have to get used to is the draw factor. I am so used to pulling my Mathews into the valley, knowing I'm at full draw and releasing. With the recurve, you have to pay attention to make sure you draw the bow back completetly to your draw lenth. I could see the decreased velocity when I short drawed the bow. Again, the anchor point is going to take some getting used to. Finger shooting is soo cool. I was shooting a vintage 1950's era Ben Pearson Javelina 66"@45lbs.

I finally got the right arrows for it too. I was shooting all my junk arrows. Noithing was spined right for the recurve. Now I have port orford cedar arrows, spined in the 40-45lb, sheild cut, right helicle fletch with 125gr field tips glued on. I need to get some broadhead ready arrows for the recurve. I have 6 old bear, vintage 2 blade heads, but they are vintage and would hate to ruin them. Most likely I will look into the Magnus 125gr 2 blade Stinger heads.

Funny thing...

I was running back and forth to the Howard Hill DVD in the house checking my release and shooting form grin.gif

Howard Hill was a natural, what a awesome archer.
