Turkeygirl
What size pins do you have on your sights for bowhunting? My TruGlo has .029 size...I hear alot use .019 size. I may have found a sight I want and could trade for that has first pin in .029 and the rest are .019. Do .019 pins show up well? Pros or cons of the 2 sizes? Only thing I would be concerned about would be because I shoot right handed and my right eye is the one I injured when I was 8 and have to wear a contact in, so I have almost as good vision but not quite. I can see .029 pins fines...just wondering how .019 pins do when deer hunting?

LifeNRA
Re: Sight pin size... I use .019" pins. I like them, they dont cover up the spot you want to shoot at!
dg
Re: Sight pin size... All pins on my sight are .019. My 20 yd is yellow, 30 green, and 40 is red. I can see the yellow with the least light. Your results may vary.

[/ QUOTE ] i dont think that im going to trade so you can have it. BTW it is a great site. i have .029 pins and like them because they can handle being hit by branchs and such without moving or breaking. if i were to shoot more paper and 3D then i would move to the .019 pins. Straight Shooter
Re: Sight pin size... Better late than never I say! LOL Ruth, if your wanting to go with .019 pins I'd highly recommend the Extreme sights. I've got the Sniper 500's and a set of the RT900's, absolutely amazing on the brightness of these pins, even in the .019 sze. My nieghbor has poor vision and is using these now with no problems. ParsonsOutdoors
i switched to the .019 and immediately noticed how much more of my target 'spot' I could see. Not quite as bright in low light, but still plenty bright enough. JP
slughunter
I like the .19 pins myself, at long range shots they are more acurate because they dont cover up all of the target like the .29 pins do. Just my 2 cents. -shane
Tony
for bowhunting im using .019s. for 3d i shoot .029 and for indoor and field i shoot .029 also. trust me the size of the pin has nothing to do with accuracy. you can be just as accurate with a .019 as you can with a .060 pin. actually a larger pin will give you the impression of less movement in your holding ability. the main thing for hunting is being able to see the pin in low light. usually a green pin will show up better during low light. for some of us older shooters, its easier to see a .040 than a .019. last year i went to a .019 on my Spot Hogg sight and i couldnt believe how well i could see a .019. so i used it and it performed very well. bottom line is if you can see it clearly, then use it. Chrud
I use a 0.029" pin as my top pin on my hunting sight. It is much brighter in low light conditions. Then my other pins are all 0.019". The smaller pins give me more precise aiming at longer distances.
slughunter
trust me the size of the pin has nothing to do with accuracy. I will agree and dissagree with that, when you have a smaller pin you know what your aiming at a lot better than if you were using a bigger pin because the big pins cover the target more so you dont have a defenite spot, for example when I had .29 pins and was shooting at 40 yards, the pin was the bigger than the bulls eye on the target and so I couldent be exact where I was aiming. -shane
