I have been hunting on my uncles place for a few years now.Every year there is this one tom that always out smarts us.We can't seem to get him to gobble but occasionally he will strut.I just can't figure out why he won't gobble, and he is by far the biggest turkey that we have seen on his place.

Re: Got a question?

An old bird that's got his territory and his harem set up doesn't need to gobble if he doesn't want to. Pack a lunch, find a comfy place to set up and sleep-hunt him. wink.gif Them quiet gobblers can die just the same as the mouthy ones.........just a little different angle of approach. wink.gif

We will have to try something, we usually see him a couple times a year but never really close.I will see what I can do and if I have any luck I will put picks up for you guys.

Re: Got a question?

The problem with "sleep hunting" this bird is being patient...most folks can't sit still long enough to out smart these types of Toms. If you don't know he's coming in...its hard to sit quiet and motionless for hours on end.

Good luck...they are tougher to get like this!

Ya I know every year something will happen and I'm like today is the day I am goin to get him and then something will happen and hes gone, last year he was actually comin in and then a coyote took off down the field and he was gone, I guess its just my luck lol.
