Guest tarbaby
So I'm sure some of you know that after one season with us here at Kansas State Bob Huggins decided to pack up and leave. I believe that this is probably a good move for him and his family but do you really think it was the right time. We offered to match and exceed West Virgina's offer. The whole town here loved him, we called it Huggieville here. After what he did here in one year and from what we expected next year.. I don't believe it was the 'right' thing to do. Just wondering what everybody thinks about this issue. BTW: everybody that owns a 'Huggieville' shirt is taking them to a collection and sending them to West Virgina. MCH
Re: We love Huggins at K-state... oh wait Rumor has it he's taking Beasley(sp?) with him, too. It seems like we've had this debate before over someone else? Saban? I don't remember. In KState's case, if it wasn't a money issue, then I sort of have a problem with him leaving. Apparently, he just wasn't happy at K-State so he just wanted out. In my line of work, if I didn't like a particular job and another one came available for more or comparable pay? I'd be gone. Of course, I wouldn't have a whole town counting on me either.
unioncountyslayer
Re: We love Huggins at K-state... oh wait What's "right" for one person is basically up to that person. I know that there will be some hard feelings at KS but if he felt it was time to move on then so be it. I think Roy Williams made a mistake when he stayed at Kansas the first time UNC tried to hire him, and then a few years later ended up leaving anyway. Even though I'm a huge UNC and Roy fan, I think he gave the fans at Kansas false hope. It's better to get out of Dodge for your own reasons, rather than sympathizing with a town and staying for the wrong ones. JMHO
Tecumseh
Re: We love Huggins at K-state... oh wait I've been a Huggins fan since he was at Cincinnati. The players are who I feel sorry for.The only reason some of them are there are because of him and if they follow him they can't play for a year. But he is a graduate of West Virginia so I could see why he wants to go back. dg
Re: We love Huggins at K-state... oh wait We enjoyed having John Beilein for 5 years and he booted for Michigan with a promising team of players in place at WVU. I think it's a lateral step but that's Coach B's decision. Huggins is from and played for WV and he felt it time to come home. Players AND coaches will quickly jump ship if they think it's for greener pastures. But it sounds like Huggins came back to WVU because of the heart, not money. muggs
Re: We love Huggins at K-state... oh wait I think dg's right. I hear K-State is supposedly bringing in the top freshman class next year, and I'm sure that was all Huggin's doing. So I don't think he'd leave all that (and the prospect of winning) for any team. I guess his connection with WVU did it. Still though, the guy's a bum.
