TurkeyHunter
I took the recoil pad off and tried using a wide flat head screw driver to remove what looks like a rod with a flat head grove but cant get it to turn. I even used channel locks on the screw driver to help try and break it free. It does turn counter clock-wise right? Do I need a special tool or try harder next time! Thanks! punkinslinger
Re: Need help removing the stock on a 11-87 Take a flashlight and look at the bolt head...if it is not round and is octagon you may be able to use a socket and extension with a breaker bar. TurkeyHunter
Re: Need help removing the stock on a 11-87 No its round and has a groove running down the center top for like a flat head screw driver. However the groove is wider then a screw driver end. Its hard to get leverage and hold to gun to break it. I'm wanting to make sure im turning it the right way first I guess before getting to rough with it. Here a pic.
TurkeyHunter
Re: Need help removing the stock on a 11-87 BTW the funny thing is when I went to remingtons site and look at the manual for the 11-87 it looks like it takes a but maybe on the end shows a few washers but never shows the very end of the round rod unless I over looked it. Thanks Again!
AJ
Re: Need help removing the stock on a 11-87 I have used a huge two handed screwdriver to remove this bolt. Just be sure to get one that fits the slot in the bolt or you will bugger up the slot. It's easy to tell when people do their own work on guns as the screws are beat up. You can do yourself a favor and get the correct part by ordering this bit and use it with a 6" extension and a 3/8" ratchet. BTW, the 1100 bit will work on the 11-87. TurkeyHunter
Re: Need help removing the stock on a 11-87 Thanks AJ! I'll see if a local gun shop has one. Being I have a few 1100's and 11-87 guns it may be wise just to buy the part.
str8shooter48
Re: Need help removing the stock on a 11-87 Get the lug wrench out of your car thats what worked for me. Another tip don't take it apart in your living room on your favorite chair. All kinds of nasty stuff came out of mine. Used it for Skeet shooting reloads with the old dirty Red Dot powder.
