total disaster
I have been posting a bit here on bits of advice and I have managed to drive my self nuts on reading on diff scopes should I buy a target tasco and use on my 22 or should i spend some money and buy a nicer one ...my thoughts is its only a 22 and I just want a nice scope that is a good price and clear for shooting and I am thinking that for just a 22 that I do not need a high end scope and I am on a tight budget and open to thoughts
Strut10
Re: scope advice wanted If it won't disappoint you to not hit what you're shooting at.....then by all means buy a cheap scope. I made the mistake of putting a Tasco Pronghorn 6X on a .22 one time. I think it was $30. Piece of crap. Maybe look into a used Redfield or Weaver. Still not "high end" optics. But you can get a decent piece of glass for $75 or $100 that will be dependable and have repeatable accuracy.
total disaster
Re: scope advice wanted the one I am looking at is a tasco 6-24 x42 for 99 bucks its not cheap cheap but I am wonding if it will be dependable for my 22 6-24 X 42 at cabelas
toddyboman
Re: scope advice wanted I have that same scope on my 22. It works fine for that. I feel the same way you do, its just a 22 for plinking so it works.
AJ
Re: scope advice wanted I think you will be ok with it. I have a few Tasco World Class scopes on my light caliber guns and they hold up just fine. The optics are not quite as clear and bright as some of the other scopes but it does not cost near as much. I would say go for it. Cabelas has a great return policy and if you don't like, send it back.
robk
Re: scope advice wanted i may be a bit bias but i prefer the nikon scopes to any on the market with bsa if i am short of cash and need one to hold me up til i can afford what i really want. those two are the best of both worlds. the monarch is the best you can find in my opinion the bsa which i have on my 243 is a working piece of glass and has never failed me in the years i have owned it and i have put it on several rifles from a 22-250 to a 30-06 and now my 243 and it is a solid piece of equipment. one day i will get my nikon long range for varmits and deer and the bsa will go into the drawer till i find another rifle i want and it will come out till i save up lol rob k
maytom
Re: scope advice wanted If you don't want to spend a ton of money, check out the Bushnell line of scopes. They are quality made, but without the huge price tag!!

too_pointer
I guess it depends on how much $$ you are willing to spend. I went cheap for a few years, especially with my rim fires. I bought a Nikon for something, don't remember what. I ended up putting it on a .22. I'm sold now on Nikon, though any scope quality scope would work. It didn't make much sense to me to put a cheapo scope on the rifle I fire the most I now have the .17hmr, and I wanted a scope that would have some power on it. I went middle of the line with a Simmons 6.5-20x40. I certainly plan on putting something much better on it when the time comes. My eyes aren't to hot anymore, so it's night and day with a cheap scope and a better clearer scope. too_
