Antigue road show?

Re: Antigue road show?

I watch it almost every week. I don't care much for the British version though.

The tickets are hard to get.

I read they were coming to Hot Springs AR back in 2005 (I think it was), and sent in for tickets.

I got two tickets and my wife and I went. We had a great time, but found we had no treasures.

I took an old Atwater Kent Radio with the speaker horn, and it was worth only about $300. and I took some inlaid canes and an inlaid handkerchief box that my great grandfather made. They were classified as folk art and were worth only about $150, even though he was a professional cabinet maker in FL back in the 1800's.

There were some people outside trying to buy tickets from some of the people in line. Many thought that if they had only one ticket that they could get both husband and wife in on the one ticket. Some sold one of their tickets and then found that only one could enter on a ticket, and had to leave their spouse outside.

Mostly, it was a chance for the antique insurance companies to set up and try to sell the patrons a policy. That was sort of a disappointment, but we did have a good time. Since we had nothing of video value, we were in and out in less than an hour.

It was an experience, but neither of us would go to that much effort again.
